Forgive me if this has been covered already but the search mode is not working. I am a bit claustrophic and am worried about Mission Space. Can anyone comment? Anyone who is "like" me ride this one? I would appreciate any insight!

I am claustrophobic myself....I am not sure I can attempt this ride from what I have read from others.. seems it is rather close quarters and I believe you are strapped in.....so...I am sending my husband to ride first, he knows me best and if he thinks I can do it, I will.....if he says No, I know I cannot ride it..

Maybe we can hear from others who have experienced this ride.. :D

It is somewhat claustrophobic. The ride vehicle sits 4 people across in a row and it is narrow. Once you sit and are stapped in, a panel leans forward to you. There is a screen about 12-18 inches from your face. The seat is also deep.

You are warned many times to put your head back into the seat and to not move your head around. This is all done to help convince your brain you are flying and not going around in a circle.

If you get uncomfortable and start looking around during the ride, your chance of getting motion sick will go up dramatically.

When I pulled the shoulder harness down the first time I got very panicky, so the second time I kept my hands between the shoulder strap and my chest. However as the ride progresses it kept tightening up. The first time I had no problems, the second time I was claustrophobic and almost had a panic attack. I don't think I'll ever ride this again. It depends on your level of claustrophobia, but once it starts you are stuck unti it is over.

If I were claustrophobic I honestly don't even think I would attempt it. It was pretty cramped quarters to me even though I'm not claustrophobic. It's a good ride and I wish everyone could go on it at least once but that is one thing that might have kept me off of it if I had a problem with tight, dark spaces.

I am moderately claustrophobic (have to close my eyes and breathe deeply in crowded elevators, prefer sitting in an aisle seat where there's more "breathing room" on airplanes, etc.). DH rode on Mission: Space before I did and encouraged me to go ahead and ride, and I'm so glad I did! I was very nervous, and I did have to close my eyes for a few seconds when they first closed the door and the control panel closed in on me, but after that I was fine and was able to thoroughly enjoy the ride.

That being said, I'm sure your response would really depend on your level of claustrophobia. I imagine that someone with severe claustrophobia would definitely not be too happy on this ride!

What about motion sickness on this ride. I always skip Body Wars and Stars Tours....they make me very blah. Even though I hate the thought of not trying Mission Space at least once...I'm not sure I should. I guess I could send DH to check it out before I go. Also, my DS and I have to take dramamine on the plane so I guess I could take some before we head to the parks. Anyone found it to help for the motion sickness on the rides?

We rode this today (one extremely claustrophobic, one prone to motion sickness) and had no problems. We were both a little iffy at first but look straight ahead, do not close your eyes, and you'll be fine. It's a great experience and we are both glad we did it!!

PS - My six year old daughter (who gets sick riding in the car in the mountains) loved it and wanted to ride again immediately but felt sick after Body Wars...go figure!! But she did ride a second time and loved it again.
