Help! I have never been on a cruise before and want to do Disney. I am very claustrophobic, can I go!! Anyone else thave this problem that has sailed on Disney???
Thanks

Should not be a problem Knick5, just go off the 3/27, and the rooms are bigger than most!! Go for it!:D

I would definetly recommend a cabin with a balcony. I am slightly claustrophobic as well, and have sailed many times. I usually book a cabin with a balcony, but this last time we booked a cabin on an RCCL ship that has an inside window overlooking the promenade (unique to those RCCL ships, not available on DCL). Anyway, even though there was a window of sorts, I still felt rather closed in, so will not sail again without at least an outside large window.

I also recommend a cabin near the elevator bank. It keeps you from walking down the narrow corridors, which I find a little claustrophobic as well. Those are the only two times, I really have any issue at all with being claustrophobic, and there are very easy fixes to those problems! Good luck, and don't worry

Since you describe yourself as "very claustrophobic" It may not be the best vacation for you- Do you panic in small spaces or have nervous attacks when you feel enclosed? You will most likely be able to step out for air most of the time but you will be sleeping in a pretty small area. I'm sure you know best what you can handle, it would just be a shame to book a cruise and then not be able to enjoy it.
Check out the stateroom plans on disneycruise.com and you will get an idea of the room layout.

My mother was very claustrophobic on our first cruise. I was so concerned we upgraded from an inside cabin to outside cabins. The windows are huge, at least above deck 2. She was O.K. in these. When she got panicky at all she went up and sat on deck 9 or 10. No clustrophobia there, just miles of ocean. Her panicky feelings were gone by about the third day.

On the second cruise we had a verandah, but she had an inside cabin across the hall. She was O.K. with that, much easier for her to cruise the second time, knowing the lay of the ship. She would come over and sit on our verandah when tired and we were off doing whatever.

If you do not want the expense of a verandah, look at the floor plan of the ship and choose a cabin one floor away from deck four, near the aft or forward stairs, then just walk down the stairs and sit on deck 4, lots of comfy chairs.

Few of the other ship locations set my mom off. The restaurants and common areas are all very large. A few of the bars seemed confining, large rooms but fairly low ceilings. But once you get used to the ship, you should be fine.

And, depending on the itinerary you CAN get off a lot.
