Just feel like venting a bit over state initiative.

This is an initiative that came through the state paid by grants. The premise is this. All computers are good. Kids love computers. Kids will use the computers to learn more and all is well.

Reality. Though we were "given" laptops, printers, and projectors, the cost to maintain these is outrageous. The printers break down after making a few dozen copies, to replenish the ink requires $110 dollars worth of cartridges. If the yellow runs out (there are 7 cartridges) nothing works. If they expire. Nothing works. The bulbs for the projectors cost $370 each. The wireless function on the laptops works occasionally at best, and it often takes kids up to 10 minutes to log on (out of a 43 minute period).

I know. I should be grateful. But give me a pencil sharpener, reams of paper, and books, and I'm pretty sure they will all work tomorrow.
