Maybe it's just me, but I find a lot of the classic Donald Duck cartoons downright hilarious. I mean, not just a 'cutesy' sort of funny, but sometimes laugh out loud funny. To say the least, this puzzles my mom, who has seen me laughing at movies like 'Pink Flamingos' or has heard me laughing at rather morbid jokes with my brother.

Am I alone in this boat?

Has anyone seen shorts such as 'Mr. Duck Steps Out' or, my favorite, 'Donald's Ostrich?' Anyone who doesn't laugh at Hortense doesn't have a soul. :(

I'm guessing here, but I imagine it's because they were more edgy. And I'm with you, I prefer those to the oversweetened stuff they make these days.

Now if they would release the even edgier stuff I could die happy.

If you purchased Mickey Mouse In Living Color parts 1 and 2, check out how the Mickey shorts got more fluffy over the years.

I just bought this for DH for Father's Day! We have Kids is Kids and a bunch of the old Donlad Cartoons! Ds3 and DH27 both laugh hysterically at these.

I like them too. I remember them as a kid..but Donald is DEFINATELY the favorite of the men in this house!

Just curious: Have you seen Mickey Mouse in Black and White Volume 1?

You can rest assured that they're not conveniently glancing over the more "controversial" material for the sake of political correctness... it'll all come out over time, I'd bet.

Yes I have, and actually some that have been released have been edited when necessary. There are also things that may never be released... some of the Silly Symphonies, Song of the South, etc.

The same is true of WB and their new Golden Collection line of DVD's. Some just wouldn't fly in the modern PC world.
