looking for advice on the city walk or inside theme park or a universal resort restaurant for a family that consists of
2 adults
2 senior adults
1 teen
1 preteen
1 elementary
1 toddler
I would like a fun place that isn't too too loud for the seniors

Will lunch be less crowded? Are all the city walk restaurants opened for lunch? Never been to Universal so wanting to try one restaurant that will be fun for all.

We were there two years ago (going back in late August). We all loved NBA City (2 parents and two elemetary boys). Nice admosphere and the food was good. The kids loved Nascar but we weren't as crazy about that - more to do with the food. Also you may find it a little loud, as the race cars hang from the cieling and start up every so often. We really didn't eat much in the parks so I can't help you there - we mainly ate on City Walk.

The CityWalk restaurants are open for lunch. With the lineup you listed I'd refer these:

NBA City
Jimmy Buffet's Margaritaville
Pastamore

In-parks:
Confisco's
Mythos
Lombard's Landing
Boulangerie
International Food and Film Festival
Comic Strip Cafe
Thunder Falls

NBA city has very good food...also, try the Latin Quarter if they are still offering the lunch buffet. The restaurant is lovely and the food is outstanding.

We stick to margaritaville for snacks and drinks only...never very impressed with the food there.

Hi,
Now I haven't been to everyone of the restaurants there, but I can voice on the one's I do know. Hard Rock Cafe is definetely out of the running because it is loud. Nice but loud. I personally think Jimmy Buffet's is a good choice. Neat atmosphere, good food, and not insanely crowded if you get there around 5:00 pm. They offer great food and there is something for everyone. Set up in the restaurant are sail boats displaying video screens right on the sails. You can watch and listen to all of Jimmy's hits while you communicate and eat. Then if you ask your waiter/waitress (and do be afraid to ask they don't mind) about the volcano. If you can get the volcano, that will make the kids go wild because they start to play the classic volcano song, you know "I don't know, I don't know, I don't know where I'm a gonna go when the volcano blows" and then they have right above the bar a huge volcano that bursts out margarita because as you know, Jimmy has a song and that was his favorite drink. Hope I could help. I think this would appeal to the whole family. :)

I'm not sure what you mean by

"if you can get the volcano"

is it a food item or a drink? why do I have to ask a server for it is it not on the menu?

Thanks for the help.

no no no. The Volcano is a big volcano on top of the bar in the restaurant. It blows i believe every 30 minutes. You have to ask the waitress or waiter when is the next time it will blow. It is really cool and I see kids all the time running up to it to watch it. You can watch margarita pouring down out of the volcano and into a big big big cup. You can get pictures of it. It is really big. About room size. The bar tenders are right under it. That is how you know where the bar is located.

Thanks sounds like an attention grabber. Do you find jimmy buffet's exceptionally loud (thinking of my senior adults in group)?

Oh no it isn't that loud. I think you can find that you can talk amongst yourselves just fine instead of NBA city where all you here is the backround is SCORE lol. No it is fancier restaurant, but reasonably priced. Plus if you are waiting for a table, I think they still give you these pagers that have pda's (personal data assistant) where you can view there menu and more. Everyone loves that. See I don't know if they still do that because I can get a seat right away now. Yeah it's funny you ask about that because every place is usually loud so when I want to calm down from the crowd, I go there. Now if you want something REALLY quite, then Mythos at IOA (islands of adventure). You have to reserve a spot for dinner, but wow is it nice and quiet. The atmosphere is gorgeous. Water falling, your in a cave like atmosphere, FANTASTIC food (got the best theme park food in the country), and you can socialize perfectly. For the kids really it is enjoying the view, I mean this is one of universal's more elegant restaurants. Either one is great.

For lunch I would HIGHLY recommend Ricter Burger located very close to earthquake. You can't find a better burger at this park unless you go to Mythos. They serve excellent food for lunch. Either that of the Diner located close to T2 3D. I prefer Ricter burger. It's quick, delicious, and has an arcade (beware lol)
