I just recieved the following email.....

What an amazing night!

I'm just leaving the Kissimmee City Commission meeting where moments ago commissioners voted 4 to 1 to extend dometic partnership benefits to LGBT city employees. Art Otero was the only "no" vote.

I am so proud of Kissimmee City Commissioner Cheryl Grieb, who led this effort. Mallory Wells, our Public Policy Director and I have worked side-by-side with Commissioner Grieb for months and she has never backed down from pursuing what is right. Even when anti-gay forces threatened to protest, Commissioner Grieb wouldn't be bullied. With her guidance and leadership we began the slow and tedious task of drumming up support on the commission and in the community.

Sincerely,
Joseph Saunders
State Field Director

Good news, O'Mike! ::yes:: Thanks for letting us know!

Thank you for sharing. My current employer and my previous employer offer DP benefits. The former employer started offering them in the mid-90's (a company synonymous with photo imaging) I sometimes take them for granted and sometimes forget not every employer offers them. It's huge with DP being a SAHM.

Good for the team in Kissimmee for keeping at it.:cheer2:

Just replied to an HRC request to sign a thank you note to the Kissimmee folks. ::yes::

Even Art Ortero. :teeth:

BRAVO!!!

My company does NOT recognize domestic partnerships - it was made clear the day they bought us. A HUGE company at that employing over 4,000 employees.

We were just bought again - I should go check that out.

He regularly has a fit every year when billboards go up for a certain event that happens the first week of June at the MK! :sad2:

That's it, one of these years we need to pull the kids out of school the first week of June (ours don't get out 'til the end of June) and go.

Maybe my kids could hang out with Art's kids (if he has any).:goodvibes

MIKE!!! You HAVE to run!!! ::yes:: We couldn't vote for you, though. :( Not in your district.

I'll find you an original pillbox in an antique shop. ::yes:: One with a little veil and everything! :teeth: Or is the veil a bit too much?
