I need your help. What are some decent cities outside of anaheim for hotels. How far are the closest beaches to Disneyland and are those areas safe. We are looking for a hotel to stay at thats clean and decent for not alot of money. We dont mind having to drive to Disneyland as were not planning on spending our whole vacation there. May only do a day or 2 there. What areas should we stay away from. We are also looking for some hotels in the San Diego area. Any recommendations for those would be great too. We are planning on going in Early November if that makes a difference. Thanks in advance for all your help

The closest beach is about 30 minutes away, maybe a little shorter if there is absolutely no traffic, longer if there is traffic. Parts of Huntington Beach are nice, and all of Newport Beach is nice. Those are the 2 closest I think. For places closer you can look in Orange which is right next to Anaheim and has some nice areas with hotels that may be a bit cheaper. I would stay away from Garden Grove. It depends on what else you wanted to do and see while in CA I guess. If you could tell us that I could give you better ideas.

In November you should be able to find accomodations very close to Disneyland for pretty cheap. I have gotten rates at motels on Harbor, within a five minute walk to Disneyland for well under $75 a night off season. My favorite that I have stayed at of those is the Tropicana which usually has very affordable rates. I would suggest going to Expedia, putting in your dates and Disneyland, Anaheim as the destination and see what comes up. Expedia is great for shopping around, even if you don't book with them. I know they frequently have good rates at a couple of Super 8's that get very good reviews. If you see something that looks good for a good price, go to www.tripadvisor.com and then you can check out traveler's ratings on the motels you are interested in. Expedia also has traveler's reviews, but not as many as you will find on tripadivisor. Generally Expedia has good deals (I use them frequently for Disneyland). They will also list hotels in Garden Grove. I do believe some parts of Garden Grove are not so great but some are fine. For instance there is an Embassy Suites in Garden Grove that my fil who lives in Orange County said was in a nice area (we considered staying there but decided to splurge and stay onsite instead). Sorry I can't help with your beach question! If you do a search on "beaches" on this forum some other recent threads on this topic should come up. Good luck!
