Hi all,
I just received a credit card offer in the mail for a Citi Premier card. In addition to a cash bonus after meeting spending requirements, Citi also is offering a free companion airline ticket each year when booked thru their partner, Spirit Incentives.
Most card offers I've seen that offer a companion ticket have much higher spending limits so I felt the need to investigate further. I googled Spirit and there are many complaints about this company. Despite the complaints, though, they boast a partnership with several large companies, including (I think) American Airlines and maybe Best Buy (can't recall exactly, but very popular stores). The complaints people make about Spirit are that it's difficult to book travel b/c of so many black out dates, there are hidden fees, and bad customer service. People either buy these travel vouchers at a discount (i.e., groupon) or receive them as gifts through promotions like the Citi card or after listening to a timeshare presentation.
I have had a good relationship with Citi and never had an issue receiving cash back rewards with my current card. Has anyone taken advantage of an offer like this from Citi? Or has anyone tried to book a trip through Spirit and what was your experience?
