While I knew her castle was decorated for the celebration...I never thought about it as being just for the celebration. That makes sense. In ancient times they always decorated a castle when it was hosting games or a special event....then the decorations come down.
I thought it was a permanent addition and I just didn't like it for "all the time". Glad I started this poll!! Learned something -- or at least I hope I am...and Disney sees this as a temporary thing too.
I like the gold as well. I hope it stays (or some form of it) as long as the mirror comes down after the celebration. BTW, I also like the hand at Epcot. I am a sucker for glittery, shiny things.
I think the castle looks beautiful with the gold and I LOVE the characters on it. I will miss it when it comes down, but I do agree that it should be a temporary decoration. The original castle should always come back after a celebration. I just hope it doesn't look naked after they take the gold off. I think it might give me that same feeling that I get when I take down all of my Christmas decorations every year and the house seems a little empty.
Fortunately, I didn't get to see the ugly pink cake castle in person!! Hopefully it really wasn't as bad in person as it is in the pictures I've seen, although, I have a feeling it was actually worse than I can even imagine, lol! What were they thinking?? Sad thing is, someone got paid big bucks to come up with that hideous creation!
I like Cinderella's castle the way it was originally (or at least for the last 15 years of my memory of it). All that extra draping and gold is just soooo gaudy.
