I just saw this thread on the Budget Board, and I'm really curious about it. This woman says one of her kids' names was picked in a drawing for a night in the Cinderella suite, and later in the thread, I believe it's post 18, it sounds like it was through her friend who is a DVC owner.

Has anyone heard of this? I didn't think the suite was available anymore, but if there's a way to enter some drawing for it I'd love to know what it is!!:goodvibes

Maybe it's some sort of Make a Wish draw? Or something non-standard like that?

Since the OP is getting information second hand, we will probably never know what the original conversation entailed. It's possible that the DVC member who made the reservation is intentionally not telling the OP the whole story?

But I also thought that the suite had been discontinued. They always said that it would "never be used by paying guests" but who knows if that stance changed after the contest was over?

It must be available at least some of the time, because a couple was given a wedding at WDW with a night in the Cinderella suite on Oprah a couple of weeks ago.

I thought they had been using the suite for one night for a guest and family chosen at random during the day at MK where the time and place of doing the choosing varied from day to day so you could not plan to be where it was going to occur. It sounds like now they are doing it from the pool of reservations. Its just a prize for being chosen and has nothing to do with DVC

The suite is definately available for "paying guests", but it's not for the average person, more like celebrities willing to drop a lot of money plus in exchange for them to be a promotion (indirectly of course) for Disney.

There was a contest - last month I think. One of the prizes (you could choose) was staying in the castle. You could enter once a day - it had nothing to do with being DVC from what I recall - I think it's part of the Magical Memories promotion. I entered a few days, but then basically forgot about it. That's where that person won from I believe.

That must have been it, thanks! How did I miss that?;) What a wonderful memory that will be!
