I have a question about Cinderella's hair. In the movie, it is light brown. Today, in the parks and in every picture of her, she has light blonde hair. Does anyone know when and why this change was made? This has been bugging me for a long time.

I noticed this and it has bothered me too! :rotfl2: Only on The DIS! :goodvibes It is a light brown in the movie and in all the original art work, still is, but the Cinderella at the parks and all the Cinderella toys have yellow blonde hair! I don't get it either! Walt did not make Cinderella a blonde! I guess eventually down the line someone thought that blondes do have more fun! :rotfl:

As a child in the 70s I always thought Cindy was a blond, so the blond hair goes back awhile. I don't think I saw the movie as a child, but I had a Disney Cinderella book.

Her hair in the film is a darker strawberry blonde. For some reason, it's been blonde in the parks and merchendise for a long time.

Well I think it is one of two things...
The Florida sun either lightened her hair...OR
she discovered you can get blonde out of a box!

I always thought she was a blonde. We have the Cinderella movie, and it's been a while since the kids watched it, but I thought she was blonde in the movie. All the pictures and books also show her as blonde.

Wikipedia says this about the blonde/redhead bit:

"The digitally remastered DVD shows Cinderella as a blonde, when her hair was originally supposed to be titian (light reddish-brown)."

Looking at some old pictures is sure does look more like it's been changed.

Now I think I need to put the movie in because I have always thought of her as a "honey" blonde.

I think you're right! I never noticed that before. It's like how they changed her dress from silver in the movie, to blue in the parks and new artwork.

That's another thing!!! :rotfl2: I have also noticed this too because her dress is more a a silver/white in the movie. No blue dress! They need to stop with the upgrades on Cinderella! :lmao:

I have an old copy and always thought it was blond? Also have an old book and it looks blond there too.

Now, here's the original artwork from the movie! Notice the brown hair and silver/white dress. Cinderella never had yellow blonde hair or a blue dress! That's all been in recent years with all the merchanising!

I've always considered Cindy a blondy...but in the movie her hair IS definitely brownish. I guess she decided to bleach a bit!

I hate how Disney is "updating" movies, I wish they would leave the magic the way Walt designed it in the first place. I refuse to purchase anything that has the "new" look because it's not the real thing!
