Chunkymonkey and Chubbyhubby eat for free! WE ARE BACK! Photo Teasers pg. 23!!

Top 10 Things I am Most Looking Forward to on This Trip:

10) Staying On-Property! We have never stayed on property before. This will be the first time. So we are super excited to be totally immersed in Disney Magic!

I didn't realize you had not stayed on property before. I think you are going to love it. I am amazed at how much more convenient it is. It completely through me the first time we went to MK and didn't have to travel across the lake.

9) Doing ME for the first time, unfortunately not for our trip there, since we arrive too late, but def on our way back.

You are still going to take the bus, right? Just that you can't use the luggage service.

8) Doing Free DP!!! We have never done a DP before, let alone Free DP LOL. Sooooo looking forward to this, and this probably was the trigger for the decision to make a trip this year.

DP is awesome. This will be my third time. I wouldn't go without it. The first time we went to WDW, we stayed off property and still ate a lot of TS meals. When we heard a cm trying to explain to a woman that she could have anything because it all counted as one credit (she was trying to just order a side salad) we were convinced that the DP was the way to go.

7) Epcot. We are Epcot fiends. nuff said.

agreed ;) nuff said

6) Bringing my DSLR to WDW for the first time! I wonder if this will slow me down or make me run at a frenzied pace to keep up with everything...

I wish I knew exactly what you are talking about...I assume a camera. :rotfl: As you can see...my camera did not make my top 10

5) Trying Tonga Toast. It just looks sooooo good. I want to eat everyone else's picture of it.

I will be anxious to hear how you like it. This is something we will be missing this trip and have never tried it.

4) Traditions. We have WDW traditions, like heading straight for Tomorrowland the minute we enter MK, and getting a FP for Space Mountain before going on Buzz Lightyear over and over again.

That is very cool. I have never thought about WDW traditions. We do things a bit different each trip.

3) Beating DH in Buzz Lightyear....it rarely happens, but it has happened before, so I am going to go on this ride over and over until I beat DH....grrr

I do like this ride... I like TSM even better, and I try (mostly unsuccessfully) to beat my oldest son.

2) Writing a TR!!! I am having so much fun with this PTR that I can't wait to share my experiences with a TR after our trip is over. It will definitely keep the magic prolonged for weeks after the trip is over. I've really enjoyed this journey on my PTR with all of you, and it's so much fun making new friends on the DIS Boards!!!

I can't wait to read your TR. It will be especially interesting to me since we will be going around the same time.

1) Planning the next trip!! Yes, everytime I go to WDW, I always think about what I want to do on the next trip down! Either a missed attraction, a cancelled show, or a forgotten parade...I keep thinking about my next trip!!

I am already there... thinking of how dd will need to put down a deposit while there (assuming bounceback is worth it) and wondering if I should do the same...maybe for a girlfriends trip.

Sorry for the insertion of comments in the quote, it makes it much easier to comment.

I love the bathroom. The tile is amazing! Great colors too!!!

Ooooh, everyone makes a list? I want to make a list too! There are SO MANY THINGS I'm looking forward to too!

I wanted to try free DP this time too, but the extra cost of buying tickets from Disney and no discount on the room didn't make it worth it. Mostly because I had already bought my tickets from Undercover Tourist.

I think your DH looks aged....but you don't look that different

Haha, thanks, I will tell DH you said that. He definitely thinks he has aged since he met me.

Yeah we used to always purchase things separately, and not stay on property, but sometimes we may or may not have saved money that way. I guess it depends on what time of year you go etc.

That's your bathrooom??? At first when I saw the pictures, I thought you were going to talk about a hotel you stayed at!

Wooow, it's really beautiful.

$6 for disney shirts? I envy the States.......

That strap is really cute! But wouldn't it get too hot in the summer around your neck?

Thank you! Yes, I pinch myself all the time when I'm in our bathroom. It really is a huge difference than what it was before. Nothing has been kept from our old bathroom, even the tub is new. Everything was broken before so we thought it best to just get rid of everything and start anew. It took us a while to pick out the colors/tile etc. I am really clueless when it comes to home decorating so it was pretty hard for me to make a decision on everything. Thank goodness it's finished.

Yup 6 bucks! And a real Disney T, not a fake one, or one from the side of the road!

Hmm, yes it might make me hot. I will have to do a test drive and see how it works out. I will probably get a few more straps because I think they are fun!

So I've been reading a lot about everyone else's top 10 lists and I thought I should make one, or a few, myself. This list is the top 10 things I am most looking forward to this trip!

Top 10 Things I am Most Looking Forward to on This Trip:

9) Doing ME for the first time, unfortunately not for our trip there, since we arrive too late, but def on our way back.

Why are you not taking it on the way there? Even if you get in after 10pm you can still take the ME to your resort, you just have to get your own luggage first. Don't miss out on the fun ME ride, it's a great way to get the magic started right away!!! I'm actually jealous of the people who live out of state and fly in and get to take the ME! Living just 1.5 hours away has its perks, but I sure do miss the ME!

Replies:

I've been thinking about my top 10 list, but I'm having a hard time narrowing it down to just 10 things!!! Haha, I'll post mine soon!

Lists are pretty fun. It really gets you going! And yeah, it was pretty hard to narrow everything down to 10.

I've never not stayed on property, so I have nothing to compare it to... but I loved staying on property! Even at a value! It really is all Disney all the time! And oh so convenient!

You are lucky! I never really got to stay on property except for the Swan, which although is technically on property, it doesn't participate in ME or DP, so it wasn't really the true experience.

Aww! It's a shame you don't get to ride it there! It's way more fun to ride it going to Disney than leaving Disney! Though I guess it's a nice little bit of Disney magic to end your trip!

Actually I do get to ride it there, I just will have to carry my luggage with me since they don' do the auto luggage pickup after 10pm, and our flight gets in right at 10pm! But yes we do get to ride it both ways.

Me too!!! I'm really curious to see if the DP is something we'd consider paying for in the future. It's nice to be able to test it out for free to see if it's something we like!

You can't imagine how much I'm looking forward to eating during this trip and not really have to worry about costs!

I am definitely most looking forward to Epcot! Last year we really only had time for Future World. So this year I'm really looking forward to checking out the World Showcase!!!

WS is so much fun, It definitely my favorite section of park to eat, since you can choose from a multitude of different cuisines depending on your mood!

Me too!!!! I can't wait to see all the photos I take! But I am worried of getting more tired from carrying around a heavy camera. And I'm also worried about annoying The Boyfriend by stopping every 2 seconds to take a picture!

Haha, I'm sure your bf may be used it that, my DH certainly is.

Oh, I've never tried it, but I want to so bad! Sadly The Boyfriend isn't a breakfast person, so we decided not to make any breakfast ADRs. Maybe one day...

Oh that's too bad. It may not be as good as it looks anyways. I'll let you know ;)

We've only been to WDW together once, so The Boyfriend and I don't have any traditions... so this trip will be the trip to make traditions!

Yay for making traditions! I'm looking forward to doing old things and creating new traditions too!

I didn't like that ride at all! But I love Midway Mania!!!

I love them both! But compared to MM, Buzz doesn't have the huge wait times so you can go over and over again. I only went on MM twice before and each time waited at least 30 minutes even with FP! So me and DH just go to Buzz over and over. When you go early enough during the day, there is usually no wait at all.

I look forward to reading your TR!

Same with you! Are you going to create a TR?

Hahaha... I don't need to be in WDW to plan future trips! I'm already thinking about what I want to do on my next trip... looking at how much it would cost to stay at different resorts, looking at menus for restaurants I'm interested in trying, thinking about what time of year I want to go (I really want to go to the Food and Wine festival!!!!)

Heh, yeah me neither. I am already planning where to stay and where to eat for our next trip for my sister's 30th next year. However, I am hoping for some sort of bounceback offer when we get to POFQ this year. I dont' really know how that works though. Do you have to book it right then? Can you cancel? Do you have to book a Magic your way package or just room? Hmmm..guess I'll have to research the lodging boards a bit

Awww! I love the pictures!!!! That's so exciting that you found those!!!! My parents have no idea where their old photos are of us at Disneyland in the 80s and 90s. I would love to find those!!!!

Thanks! I am so happy I found them too!

The bathroom looks fantastic!!! Love it!

Thank you!!!

Thanks for correcting me, I should have been a bit more clear, we are definitely taking ME to POFQ, it's just that our luggage will not get the full ME treatment going there! LOL. Poor luggage. :rotfl:

So we'll have to either carry our luggage on board with us or pick it up from baggage claim ourselves. If by some great chance, our flight arrives early, then it might be possible, but on a friday before labor day, I doubt it! So even though we get free checked bags on jetblue, I am contemplating just carrying them onboard as I really can't stand waiting at baggage claim when I just want to get to Disney asap! We do this all the time for most of our trips anyways, so I'm pretty good at bring travel-sized everything so we can bring all we need as carry-ons. I can't wait to ride ME!

:)
I didn't realize you had not stayed on property before. I think you are going to love it. I am amazed at how much more convenient it is. It completely through me the first time we went to MK and didn't have to travel across the lake.

I am soooo looking forward to this. The closest we've gotten was the Swan, which although was in a fantastic location, didn't participate in ME or DP.

You are still going to take the bus, right? Just that you can't use the luggage service.

Yup! I just realized that I confused many people. What I meant was that my luggage won't be experiencing full ME there, just on the way back. But yes, am excited about ME!

When we heard a cm trying to explain to a woman that she could have anything because it all counted as one credit (she was trying to just order a side salad) we were convinced that the DP was the way to go.

That's too funny. She probably thought each item counted as 1 credit. It's gonna be so nice to be able to order so many different things and not care too much about costs.

I wish I knew exactly what you are talking about...I assume a camera. As you can see...my camera did not make my top 10

Yup, a dslr is just those big cameras people lug around. I'm also bringing a point and shoot.

I will be anxious to hear how you like it. This is something we will be missing this trip and have never tried it.

I am hoping that it is not overhyped and when I try it that it may let me down, but I do really want to eat those pictures I see of it in everyone's TR. LOL :rotfl:

That is very cool. I have never thought about WDW traditions. We do things a bit different each trip.

I think there are things we do everytime that we just gravitate to, and then there are always new things we find out about every time we go!

I do like this ride... I like TSM even better, and I try (mostly unsuccessfully) to beat my oldest son.

Buzz is so much easier to get on than TSM so we go round after round, after round. I've only been on TSM twice and both times we had to wait 30 mins with FP!!

I can't wait to read your TR. It will be especially interesting to me since we will be going around the same time.

Yes! It would be sooo cool to read your TR too! I hope you do decide to do one!

I am already there... thinking of how dd will need to put down a deposit while there (assuming bounceback is worth it) and wondering if I should do the same...maybe for a girlfriends trip.Sorry for the insertion of comments in the quote, it makes it much easier to comment.

Cool! How does bounceback work exactly?

I love the bathroom. The tile is amazing! Great colors too!!!

Thank you!!

I am not sure exactly how bounceback works...since I have never done one. (should have..since we always go back) Anyway, I think you have to book w/ deposit before you check out...and it usually is the same offer you were staying w/. So for us, fd...hopefully will be the bounceback. I think depending on the offer too, there are stricter dates. I want to say that the one we had in 2/09 had the option of most of the following year. I hear that bb with fd are just for those few months that fd is offered.

Ah I see, thanks! I also read somewhere that BB many not always be offered to each guest, but that we can check with the front desk to see if there are any available offers. It's funny how there are so many offers floating around, like the FD, or 20/30/40. I had a travel agent check for me and honestly she said that each package with either code works out to be the same. You may only end up saving a only a few bucks when switching from one code to the next. I guess it really depends on where you want to stay etc. ;)

Depending on the number of people in the group and the resort, offers can vary a bit. If I were to have gone with room discount instead of the fd... all things the same would have cost 1k more. If however, we stayed at a deluxe, then the room discount makes more of an impact and is the better deal. For you, fd saves you about $80 to $90 per night. (where as I believe your room discount would have been only about $45) If you had stayed at CR, assuming the room was $250/night, the room discount would have saved you more than fd. (maybe $100, which is probably where your TA said they work out to be about the same) I think that is usually the case. FD always wins unless you are a small party at a deluxe...or staying in an upgraded room at a deluxe.

You are lucky! I never really got to stay on property except for the Swan, which although is technically on property, it doesn't participate in ME or DP, so it wasn't really the true experience.

Haha, I'm not sure I'm that lucky! I've only been to WDW once in my life! So really I've only stayed on property once! When I first started planning my trip last year I first started looking at staying off site. But then when I found out that all transportation was free and taken care of if I stayed on site, my decision was made! The Boyfriend and I both hate driving in unfamiliar areas (and I just hate driving in general!) so that was a major plus! It also meant we could drink as much as we wanted and not have to worry about driving home! And we definitely felt we made the right decision! It was great being immersed in Disney magic and theming the whole trip!

Actually I do get to ride it there, I just will have to carry my luggage with me since they don' do the auto luggage pickup after 10pm, and our flight gets in right at 10pm! But yes we do get to ride it both ways.

Oh, that's good! And having to carry your luggage isn't that bad! And since POFQ is pretty small, you probably won't have to carry your luggage that far when you go to check into your room! Plus, it will be nice to have everything you need right when you check in!

WS is so much fun, It definitely my favorite section of park to eat, since you can choose from a multitude of different cuisines depending on your mood!

I'm so looking forward to using my snack credits at the WS!

Haha, I'm sure your bf may be used it that, my DH certainly is.

Haha, he is definitely used to it! But it still doesn't mean I don't feel bad about it!

I love them both! But compared to MM, Buzz doesn't have the huge wait times so you can go over and over again. I only went on MM twice before and each time waited at least 30 minutes even with FP! So me and DH just go to Buzz over and over. When you go early enough during the day, there is usually no wait at all.

Luckily we only had to wait about 15 min to ride Midway Mania last year! And that was without FPs! We went to ride it during the parade! Best time to go!

Same with you! Are you going to create a TR?

I'm planning on it!

Heh, yeah me neither. I am already planning where to stay and where to eat for our next trip for my sister's 30th next year. I've never booked BB, but from my understanding you just put down the $200 deposit while you're there and then you have until 45 days before your trip to pay it off... same as with a regular MYW package. And you can cancel any time before that 45 day mark for a full refund. I'm pretty sure you have to book a MYW package to get whatever discount is being offered (free dining, room discount, etc.)

I love your list! I am definitely going to be making some lists in my PTR too, because you're right: they're really fun! I know that you are going to love the DP, especially since it was free! :thumbsup2 I will be trying Tonga Toast for the first time on my trip, too! I can't wait! It looks soooo good! :lovestruc

I love your new bathroom! It's gorgeous! I like how bright it is. When I was in college I lived in this really old apartment and the bathroom was this dark greenish blue color and I hated it. Even the toilet and the tub were that dark color, and it was so gross and depressing! Yours is so pretty!

I love the new camera strap, too! Very stylish!! :)

I love your list! I will make separate comments on it tomorrow when I am off. Your bathroom is so beautiful! After living in NYC, I am familiar with what bathrooms usually look like there. So if yours looked anything like those did before you renovations, your changes make it look absolutely amazing!

You are probably right! I'll have to figure out which package works out for my next trip in April 2011. It would be kinda nice to have some sort of BB reward. Will see if I even get one!

Haha, I'm not sure I'm that lucky! I've only been to WDW once in my life! So really I've only stayed on property once! You are lucky you only had a 15 min wait for TSM last year! Even when we went first thing in the am, right at rope drop, we still had to wait! Even with EMH! WHERE do these people come from?!? I am convinced they spend the night there. LOL

:lovestruc

Than you Joni! Your college bathroom sounds like my old bathroom. Everything was just beige and ugly, right from the 70s. In fact, it looks like hadn't changed in about 40 years, so it was about time to update it.

LOVE the bathroom and the camera strap.

Have you used the camera strap yet?

Thank you Heather! No I haven't used the strap yet. I have been using my point and shoot mostly these days. So Disney may be the first time I get to use it.

I love your list! I will make separate comments on it tomorrow when I am off. Your bathroom is so beautiful! After living in NYC, I am familiar with what bathrooms usually look like there. So if yours looked anything like those did before you renovations, your changes make it look absolutely amazing!

Thank you! Yes the bathroom in it's before state was just nastly. Ugly beige-y tile, greyish grout, light fixtures from the 70s. Yuck. No amount of cleaning every took any of the drabbiness out either. It all just looked so bleh. I am amazed my bathroom could look so good after too, I guess I thought there isn't much you can do with such a small box of a bathroom but it's amazing what new tile, paint, fixtures, and lights will do!

Signing on for your PTR~ Can't wait to here more! Keep the updates and interesting links coming! =)

So I've been reading a lot about everyone else's top 10 lists and I thought I should make one, or a few, myself. This list is the top 10 things I am most looking forward to this trip!

Top 10 Things I am Most Looking Forward to on This Trip:

10) Staying On-Property! We have never stayed on property before. This will be the first time. So we are super excited to be totally immersed in Disney Magic!

I thought you had stayed on property before. I really didn't notice that until now. You will love it. I stayed offsite all of my childhood and once in Feb 2006. It was ok until I stayed onsite for the first time in June/July 2006 and it was so great. I was a lot less tired than when I stayed offsite plus I just loved the whole feel of being right there so close to everything.

9) Doing ME for the first time, unfortunately not for our trip there, since we arrive too late, but def on our way back.

I love ME! I hate that we will be missing out on it this time. I love being on the bus and watching the cartoons. Ours was an old school one with Figaro. You will also really enjoy this.

8) Doing Free DP!!! We have never done a DP before, let alone Free DP LOL. Sooooo looking forward to this, and this probably was the trigger for the decision to make a trip this year.

I have never done free DP before but I did do the DP in my 2006 trip and it was great. We were always so stuffed. Plus you get a chance to try a lot of different restaurants and foods.

7) Epcot. We are Epcot fiends. nuff said.

Love, LOVE, LOVE Epcot! :lovestruc

6) Bringing my DSLR to WDW for the first time! I wonder if this will slow me down or make me run at a frenzied pace to keep up with everything...

I wish I knew more about cameras so I could better comment on this. But I do think you will have plenty of time to get great pics and to enjoy everything.

5) Trying Tonga Toast. It just looks sooooo good. I want to eat everyone else's picture of it.

I can't wait to try it either. Last time, I ate there I had the Macadamia Pineapple Pancakes cause they sounded so good and they were. This time I am ready to try something new and even if I don't, one of the girls will get the tonga toast and I can try theirs :).

4) Traditions. We have WDW traditions, like heading straight for Tomorrowland the minute we enter MK, and getting a FP for Space Mountain before going on Buzz Lightyear over and over again.

Great traditions! :thumbsup2I love traditions, too. I have my own and can't wait to create new ones with the kids. One of mine is going to DTD on my arrival day. I just love doing that. You get a relaxed vibe plus a bunch of cool Disney things to check out.

3) Beating DH in Buzz Lightyear....it rarely happens, but it has happened before, so I am going to go on this ride over and over until I beat DH....grrr

I've only rode this once but it was a lot of fun. Can't wait to see your scores in your TR!

I can't wait to read your TR! You have done such a great job with this one and your previous ones, too.

1) Planning the next trip!! Yes, everytime I go to WDW, I always think about what I want to do on the next trip down! Either a missed attraction, a cancelled show, or a forgotten parade...I keep thinking about my next trip!!

I do this, too. In actuality, I have been planning this trip since I left in 2006. But the real planning started about 2 years ago according to my fiance.

So that's it for this list! I definitely want to make more lists as they are super fun. And also I do like lists in general.

I love making lists, too. I'm trying to think of new ones to post on my PTR.

And as a side note, while digging around snapfish.com for old pics, I came across our pics from the very first trip to WDW that me and DH took in 2003. We had only been dating about 10 months at this time. I can't believe how young we look! Also back then, digital cameras were pretty bad so I apologize for the poor quality of these pics.

This happened to me, too. After my last WDW trip and my Florida Keys Trip, I uploaded all my pics to my PC. Then there was a power surge at the house where I was staying due to some construction work going on doing the road at a shopping center. After that, my computer and phone were both fried. I lost all my photos. So the ones I posted on the first page of my PTR and the ones on my July 4th Cali Grill review are all I have left.

I made all my replies above. I hope you don't mind.

Hope everyone is having a great weekend! Back to work tomorrow, sigh. Work has been a little crazy lately so I haven't had much time to respond or update, but here's a little something that we'll be bringing to WDW in Sept....introducing Tigger...our lovely rotund mascot!!

4805840529_9e7876fe9a.jpg

I was doing some cleaning the other day and I came across this little fella which I bought during one of our previous trips to the world. He came with a little bag of candy in a clear plastic box. The candy wasn't that good, but I have an obsession with anything round so I just had to purchase him!

He's small, round, and light, exactly what I was looking for in a mascot! LOL

4805840209_345e626e6c.jpg

I also have round Piglet but we may save him for another trip :) :cutie:

BTW, we caught The Sorcerer's Apprentice last night, and although it wasn't a perfect movie, it was quite enjoyable. Even though it wasn't really a modern day Fantasia, there were a few parts which defintely was a tribute to the animated classic, minus the Mickey, of course.

Going to see Inception tonight! I am excited as I love all of Nolan's other works (Memento, Dark Knight)

I am slowy crafting another list so stay tuned!!

Little round Tigger is so cute!!!!

I have been wanting to see The Sorcerer's Apprentice. I didn't even think about the comparison between Fantasia. I will have to keep think about that when I do watch it.

Little, round Tigger is so super cute!

And, to echo what everyone else has already said, you will love staying onsite. I know that we did. And being a New Yorker, riding the busses won't phase you in the least. I still cannot understand why some people complain about the bus service and/or rent cars when they stay on property at Disney. I suppose you could leave property...but why? :confused3

And what a beautiful bathroom! The tile is gorgeous. Nice colors.

And you are correct that my husband and I have almost the exact same picture, in that exact location. :goodvibes

Oh, yes, and I am looking forward to your trip report, too!
