Chunkymonkey and Chubbyhubby eat for free! WE ARE BACK! Photo Teasers pg. 23!!

So I've recently discovered the Disney Food Blog and I love it! It provides very up-to-date information on all Disney dining. I especially enjoy their articles on where the best value is for your money, and also what are the best places to spend your precious TS credits when you are on the dining plan! The article on best 1 TS credit restaurants is here.

I'm so happy to say that after our trip this Sept. We'd have eaten at all the restaurants mentioned in the article!

The article lists these restaurants onsite as being the best 1 TS credits in terms of "bang for your buck"

'Ohana
Le Cellier
Chef Mickey's
Boma
Coral Reef
(eaten at on previous trip)

I'm glad a made the right choice in terms of value for money, or in this case, value for free TS credit. LOL. :rotfl:
Although, I should be going to Chef Mickey's for dinner and not breakfast if we really want to get technical. :lmao:

Are there any sites other than wdwinfo, allears or mousesavers which you like to visit to get more information for your upcoming trip?

I keep reading about Chef Mickey...it is not on our list this time though. Have you ate there before?

Thanks for passing along the article. I am hoping to get the best value for TS credit as well. (that is why we are going to pay oop for a breakfast since it is the least expensive choice)

As for other sites...I love all the ones you mentioned. allears.net is great for menus!

ooh what a great blog, I love all the pictures! They're making me hungry, haha.

I love allears, I am always on there looking at the reader reviews and menus.

Nope, this is the first time at Chef Mickey's for us. In fact, all our TS picks are first times for us too! It was kind of a goal for this trip, especially with the free dining, to try new things. Chef Mickey's is our only character meal this time around. I think it's fun for us, but it's not a must-do since we don't have any kids. But I've always wanted to go to Chef Mickey's! :)

We're going to pay OOP for at least 1 of our TS meals too. Definitely for Kona Cafe breakfast since that is the cheapest out of the bunch. I browse the menus on allears as well. So much fun! And such a good way to pass the time, LOL. :cool2:

Yes the blog is really fun! Especially the reviews and pictures. Did you know you can do a free tour of Boma and Jiko everyday at 4:30pm with free samples? Might have to check into that...

Thanks for posting that link to the Disney Food Blog! I'm getting ready to check it out and start drooling! :rotfl:

That sounds awesome! I'm going to search the Dis to see if anyone has a review of it :)

Thanks for posting about the food blog! I will definitely be checking it out. I have ADRs for 3 of the 5 restaurants that are the best TS credits. I did have Ohanas but I switched to Kona Cafe instead. I may have to rethink that after seeing the article.

Off topic, I keep seeing posts on your thread about your wedding and honeymoon blog. Did you post a link to it? I didn't see a link but maybe I passed over. I read the blog about your photos and trips but I didn't see the wedding/honeymoon blog. I would love to read it.

Thanks a lot Su-Lynn. The more I read about the Panny 4/3 camera, the more I want one now to upgrade my 5 years old Nikon Coolpix walk around camera. LOL... That is an excellent camera for its' weight and size. The 20mm f/1.7 had me in hello. What's even more amazing...it can use most of my Nikon lens with a $50 adapter.

I read rumor GF-2 version might be coming out soon. Maybe that will drive the GF-1 price further down enough for me to justify another camera.

It sounds like so much fun. If I ever stay at AKL or AKV one year it's a definite must do!

Sure! Of course! The link is here
Or copy and paste http://sulynnteo.googlepages.com

I wrote it in Nov 2008 back when we got married. I posted a link on tripadvisor.com and till this day, I still get emailed about it! I would never consider myself a Tahiti expert by any means, but it's nice to be able to help people out on their honeymoon planning.

I think Kona Cafe for dinner is really popular too so I wouldn't worry to much about it! The menu looks really yummy so I would just eat wherever you want to!

I totally agree that it looks like an amazing camera that fits my needs while travelling. The lenses are so light and the one thing I like about it is that when you ask someone to take a picture of you, it doesn't intimidate them because they can still look at the live view and the size is still smaller than an intimidating dslr. I would always carry 2 cameras with me while traveling so that i can ask someone to take a picture of us with a p and s and they didn't need to use my dslr. :cutie:

The only thing is to justify the price of the GF1 plus the new lenses. I guess you can use your older lenses but my lenses are so big it would kind of negate the point of a lighter weight camera LOL. Plus I was saving for a full-frame camera too...hmm which one to get...:lmao: hopefuly the GF2 will come out and I can buy the GF1 for cheap!

what is your favorite lens?
For travels it's definitely my 10-22mm f3.5. I have it on about 90% of the time. I also bring a 28-105mm zoom in case I need a bit of telephoto and my prime 35mm 2.0 for food shots. LOL. All 3 are by canon.

For portraits and engagements, it would be my Canon 24-70mm 2.8 L and my Sigma prime 50mm 1.4 both of which I use all the time. And occassionally I would use the 10-22mm for some nice wide angles.

So just a brief update as to what's going on lately:

- We’re remodeling our bathroom now so have been staying with my parents at their house. My dad makes me breakfast every morning and then drives me to work and picks me up (Their house has no direct public transportation to my work unfortunately). My mom keeps feeding DH and I every chance she gets. I am starting to really like living at home again and may never leave. LOL. DH also likes it as he enjoys bothering my younger sister (not the twin) who lives at home too. The downside is that I think I have gained 5lbs from the lack of walking and the constant feeding. LOL. :rotfl:

- In retaliation to all the weight I’ve been gaining living at home, I’ve bought these sandals from Sketchers to try and help me get back in shape. I got them in black. I don’t think I walk as much as I’d like to in order for them to be effective enopugh, but each step I take counts right? LOL :lmao:

- Am starting to get ideas for my sister’s (the one that DH bothers) 30th birthday celebration in WDW and Universal April 2011. I am not sure if they do the free dining then…does anyone know? However I doubt it as her birthday falls right around Easter which is a really popular time. However, I will be planning a vacation for a large group of people, potentially 8 or more, and I am not sure how to go about doing this with the least amount of pain on my part. Part of me wants to get OCD with planning every little detail, but then part of me thinks I will scare everyone away from coming to Disney because of my constant planning. LOL. Any suggestions?

- I want to go see the following movies this weekend: TOY STORY 3, TOY STORY 3, TOY STORY 3, oh and maybe The Karate Kid too.

- I still need to get my Dad a father’s day gift. Eeek.

- I leave for Las Vegas next weekend! I am pretty excited as it’s been the first vacation I have had since January. We go to Vegas every year and we love it! I am planning to play penny slots (I don’t really gamble that much anymore, just penny slots LOL!), clubbing with my friends, EATING (my favorite restaurant there is Bouchon, and my favorite buffet is at the Wynn), go shopping, and relax and get a tan by the pool. DH has decided to play poker the entire time so I may or may not see him all weekend. LOL. :rotfl: We are staying at the Venetian on the strip. But what I am really looking forward to is eating In-N-Out burger. We love that place, and every time we are on the west coast we eat there or drive-thru at least once, LOL. popcorn::

Just a little update for now! :cutie:

Ah, remolding...what fun. :confused3 Seriously though it is nice...once everything is done. It is just headache while you are in the midst of it. It is nice that you are staying with your parents while it is done though. I am sure it is a win for both of you. (except for maybe the weight gain ;) )

Cool sandals! Stylish yet functional!

I don't think fd is offered then at all. In fact, I think the promos are slim at that time. Never say never though... As for your family trip planning... :rotfl2: Sorry to not be much help...but I could just as easily make that statement if I were planning a trip. In fact, I try to suggest a trip with my dh's family and I can tell I freak them out. For them a vacation is sitting and doing nothing but chillin on the beach or by the pool. WDW is far from that. If you want to fit everything in, you HAVE to plan ahead...make ADRs..etc. I think for those who have never done that, it only makes those of us who do look crazy to them. Maybe gentle comments regarding this trip might help. Like "oh, I am so lucky I made a reservation at Le Cellier x amount of day ahead because they are completely full now"

This made me laugh... all I can say is yes, yes, yes!

We go to Vegas every year and we love it!

Enjoy your trip!

I am at the dark side so I only have Nikon gear. I found myself using the 35mm f/2 and 50mm f/1.4 more and more during vacation. However, when I go to the track or airshow, my 70-200mm f/2.8 is a must. I do agree the 35mm f/2 is perfect for food shot. It would be even better if that mate with a full frame. Some time shooting with a DX can get a little too close.

I do shoot with my 10.5 mm fisheye occasionally but only if I want the dramatic effect. My next lens purchase is definitely the 85mm f/1.4 An awesome mid-range landscape lens IMO. I've been lusting for that lens a very long time. Hope I can pick one up before my next trip.

I am not good at shooting portraits but I did shoot a couple of wedding in my life time. I pretty much shoot the whole thing with my 50mm f/1.4

I am pretty sure I will pick up a GF-1 with the 20mm f/1.7 before the trip. Just waiting to see if GF-2 would come out soon enough to compare. I've been checking on ebay also. It offer in other color like red, white and silver. I really like the red one but not sure if I can trust the seller from Taiwan. I guess black is the only color choice in US.

Wow an 85mm for landscape? I have used the 85mm 1.4 for portraits and liked it a lot. But I have not used it for landscapes before. But I am sure it'll be really nice to focus on certain elements of a picture. Maybe I am just used to shooting super wide for landscapes. LOL. Here are some of my landscape pictures I have taken in Hawaii in 2009 and 2010:

Let me know when you decide to get the GF1! I love the white color one, It's soooo ipod looking, LOL. But I heard the software is not in english on any color but the black.

Hey Su! I'm onboard! Ok, gonna get back to read the rest, and I've started reading your 2009 TR too!

Haha, ChubbyHubby.....good name

Thanks for visiting Yuki! Hope you enjoy my PTR, Its not very exiciting though...LOL :rotfl:

ooo you're going to Vegas, lucky girl!

I don't know if you've seen this or not but it's a history of discounts Disney has released over the past 4 years, hopefully it will help some for planning your trip next year! http://www.mousesavers.com/historicalwdwdiscounts.html

Thanks Christia!! That'll be really helpful! Think next year it will be a challenge to do it within a decent budget so any little bit helps!

I'm so excited that you changed to POFQ!! We loved it there on our HM! It's so small and such a gorgeous property!

Let me know how the strap works out! I need to get a new one for my camera; the standard one it came with scratches up my neck.

Do you carry your DSLR on the plane? This will be my first time traveling with mine.
