Day 2 Part 2: Shutting Down MK!
Our first half of the day was already so amazing...we went to Batuu and survived...the HEAT! Boy was it hot that day!
I swore never to come back during August but when Star Wars calls, we GO. ✈
We capped off our amazing morning with lunch at the Brown Derby, which is the only signature restaurant in Hollywood Studios. I do like Brown Derby but I find the food to be very continental sometimes, like it's what you'd find in a hotel restaurant - always solid and does the job and sometimes has experimental stuff but overall nothing to write home about. However, the cobb salad is always a draw so I knew that that was what I would be getting for lunch!
Steve and I shared a dirty martini, because we felt very hollywood and posh at that moment.
I was just melting so I stuck with an iced tea and just took sips of Steve's drink. Sometimes if I'm too hot, alcohol and me don't mix so I think the amount I had was good enough!
For starters, Chunkydust and I had the tuna tartare. It was quite nice.
And here is my cobb salad! I asked them for the dressing on the side because I like to control the amount on my salad to avoid getting it too soggy. It was good for this sweltering day and was light yet filling. I don't remember what Steve got as I don't have a picture!
During lunch I downloaded some photopass pictures from the preview, and I particularly liked this one:
Just your everyday Sunday afternoon, tossing my hair in front of a tie fighter!
It was also my niece Eva's birthday! Unfortunately we couldn't be with her since we were in Batuu for most of the day but I had to post this on instagram because she is the sweetest little girl. In our Ohana Means Chunky trip 2 years ago, she celebrated her birthday at Disney. I think we're going to have to make another trip to Disney because she talks about coming back all the time! Her dad said 2021, LOL so I guess we're in for another Epic trip and another Chunky family trip in 2021.
We rounded out our afternoon at DHS by a ride on Slinky Dog!
We had to park hop to MK right after because Steve had another appointment on a chair...
at Harmony Barber Shop!
He did this back in May and it was really cute so I booked him for another haircut because he totally needed one anyways, and if he's going to be at Disney, then why not? We declined the pixie dusting because I dont' think sweat and confetti are a good mix on the scalp.
I changed into my Beauty and the Beast dress because we were in MK and I'm a princess here.
After Steve was done with his haircut we headed to Tomorrowland but I was on a mission to find the zoom in, zoom out magic shot and we did find it! We waited about 15 minutes in the heat for this but it's worth it, it's such a cool shot!!
(This gif has been sped up to twice the speed and resized so it's actually much slower and there's music in the background).
Princesses ride the Peoplemover too!!
I got one of my old time favorite snacks, the Cheshire Cat Tail from Cheshire Cafe!
It was yummy and a nice afternoon treat with an iced coffee!
We relished the light as the sun went down as then it wouldn't be so blazingly hot.
But we still had to cool down even more so we got a Dole Whip float to share.
We walked around some more and we also had an FP for Mine Train!
I'm doing my best to disguise my coaster chin which is just a nice way of saying double chin.
I am pretty sure we did more rides but I have no pictures so no recollection, LOL.
Oh wait but I did find our picture form Haunted Mansion the day before, hahaha! See I knew we went on it!
We had dinner at Columbia Harbor House, my favorite MK quick service. We weren't super hungry so we shared a fried fish and shrimp platter and I had to add the mac 'n cheese for extra sustenance since we were sharing!
It was really good!
I knew I wanted to watch HEA that evening so we stuck around and managed to get good spots in the hub. I had been texting @Monykalyn who was also in MK with her daughter and she managed to find us right before the show started! It was a pretty awesome view that night:
The park was open for another hour or so we all ended up on Mine Train together!
It was great shutting down the park with Monica and her DD, who is incredibly pretty, I might add! They both are!
What a great day!! We had our first glimpse of Galaxy's Edge, I got to ride the Millenium Falcon, and we shut down MK! It didn't even matter we were leaving the next day! Well, we'd be back next weekend, so that helped!
Coming up...more fun in Hollywood Studios!
