I'm on the fence on this one...I'm a huge Chucks fan, but I have the feeling that they may not give the best support for walking around the World. Has anyone worn Chucks at Disney, and were they good enough...or would you recommend a more supportive shoe? Thanks!

I have to put other insoles in them just for every day wear. No WAY I would wear them to walk in WDW in the summer!

I swear by them personally. I've been to wdw twice wearing chucks ( and we're no park slouches either, lots of walking ), one trip to DL. Not to mention a trip to the Caribbean, lots of island walking. They work for me.

In fact, I used to have a pair of VANS and as much as I liked them, I found they offered TOO much support in the arches when i did a LOT of walking and my arches would be all sore.

These were the only shoes I wore in high school (graduated 05) and wore them for marching band practice which consisted of a lot of 12 hour days 95% of which was on our feet (including a 2 week 12hr a day band camp).. Never had a problem and swore by them..

Sadly my feet got a little wider during my pregnancy in 09/10 and I haven't been able to comfortably wear them since..

If you are used to them on a regular basis and they are fully broken in - I say go for it. If you are really concerned and have another pair of sneakers that are broken in before your trip - bring them as back up.

I live in my Chuck's, I wear them everyday to school, every weekend, including to practise in with my musical theatre group, and I swear by them, but at the end of the day it depends on what is most comfortable for you, trawling miles and miles each day :)
For me, that's a cheap, £3 pair of fake Chucks, even though I swear by my high tops daily!

I also live in my Chucks, all day, every day... I wear them to work, and on nights out, and every where in between.... Wore them to Disney last year thinking, these are SO comfy every single day, they'll be perfect... Well, after about 3 days, I wanted to cut my feet off lol... I wore New Balance on my next trip and fared much better.

Thanks for the opinions! I think I'm gonna sacrifice coolness for comfort, and leave the Chucks at home.

Everyone should take at least 2 pair of mostly broken in shoes to Disney. Doesn't matter what you're used to, what style you prefer, but 2 different pair.

I can walk around work all day in one pair of shoes but I'd be in agony with them at Disney. Basically its just so different from your every day activity so what you're used to, you may find you just react differently while on vacation. Figure you're eating differently, probably in hotter weather so you're feet may swell and sweat which you aren't used to at home.

I had 2 pair of sneakers and a pair of flipflops with me on a 4 day trip. I wore only 1 pair of the sneakers for almost the entire trip. By the last night my feet were so swollen and sore I almost had to leave the park. Luckily I had my flipflops with me and then sat on UOE and gave myself a 37 minute long massage/rest lol. But these sneakers were new but pretty well broken in. I figured they were the way to go because of the support. They turned into little foot prisons by the end. I wore the other pair of sneakers on my last day.

I figure its not worth it getting caught with your pants down and only having one pair of shoes.

I have a pair of Chucks too, but I would never wear them at Disney. I need to put insoles for support in them just to wear them at home. If you are concerned at all about comfort, I think you are making the right decision. You will be doing lots and lots of walking at Disney!

I would live in Chucks if I could! I say if they're nice and broken in, why not?

I also agree though that you should have at least another pair of walking shoes (whether its sandals or tennis shoes) and a pair of flip flops, just in case. :)

I wore my Chucks one day on our last trip and I was fine. They're going back with me in February but I'll also take my Crocs and my running shoes just in case.

I wore mine to walk the dogs every night before we went to break them in and then I was used to going at least a couple of miles at a time while wearing them.

Oh brother, do I have a Chucks at WDW story...

My Chucks at WDW got SOAKED when I went on a photographic expedition on a 'lil sailboat to GF during a September storm. Said boat and occupants were thoroughly soaked in a few minutes flat. Chucks DID NOT dry out the whole rest of the trip, despite being taken off, stuffed with washcloths, and set out to dry. And thus, the Crocs entered my Disney life and have been with me since.

So yes, you can wear them, but I'd make sure you're prepared for them not drying if they get soaked. Bring a backup :)

I'm not being sarcastic at all, I know people experience different things. But that's so weird because my chucks have gotten wet in all kinds of scenarios and dry out much faster than most SNEAKERS ( I'll grant crocs ae not cloth, so yeah they would dry out faster ).

On the crocs side, I bought a pair of Mickey crocs right from the Emporium, wore them for a couple of days until the rubber started eating away at the top of my feet from all the walking/rubbing. Now I only wear them casually, never for lots of walking.
