We are going to Disney in early December to avoid crowds.

However, my brother and his family have decided to go Christmas week. They are currently staying off site. I have told them that I would look around for better prices for onsite. I believe that I have read here that many times during Christmas week the MK is closed to off-site guests once it reaches capacity. However, on-site guests are still able to enter the parks. Is this correct?

They will not need tickets, only a room only reservation. Anyone have any good ideas for room rates. There are 5 of them, so they almost have to go with a deluxe or rent DVC points.

Help!?!?!

Port Orleans-Riverside will sleep five, or they could try the Ft. Wilderness Cabins (I'm not sure about all the other Deluxes -- I know GF has rooms that sleep 5, but will be expensive).

The latest I've been at Disney is Dec. 24, and MK was very crowded, but we were able to get in (we were resort guests, but no one asked us).

Good luck to them -- we will be there that week again this year. Even if it IS crowded, I am so ready!!!!

I've stayed off-site at Christmas, and we couldn't get into MK on two of the days we tried.

If they have AP's, they might try Swan/Dolphin. They had some great AP rates earlier and it sounded like there were some cancellations when WDW resorts came out with their AP's. It might be hard to get something inexpensive so late.

By any chance is anyone in their party a teacher, nurse, or government worker? The Swan/Dolphin offer great discounts for people with those professions, even during Christmas week. I'm going Christmas week too, and taking advantage of those preferred rates for the first 2 nights.

I THINK (but someone else will have to verify) that the Dolphin can accommodate 5 people in some rooms.

Very nice of you to try to help your brother! If they can't find somewhere on-site with availability and a reasonable price, they should plan to get up early and get to MK a half hour before posted opening time. Things will be very crowded that week, especially at the MK. Getting there first thing in the morning is very necessary, IMHO.

Good luck in your search! :D
