Anyone else going at Christmastime but staying off-site? I hated to do it but got tired of trying to get a FW ressie so we are staying off-site this time.

It is really hard to get resssies for FW at Christmas. I booked a year ago and could not get straight through to New Years days , so dont feel to bad. If you really want I would called every few days at 7:00AM and see if any opens up. How many days did you want to stay? Last year I booked it day by day and by our trip I had 10 days. Only problem I had 6 ressies and they would not link them together.

Well I started trying in February to get our December ressies but could only get a few days. We are going 12/22 thru 1/1. So at that time I went ahead and made an off-site ressie too just in case. I continued to try for a few months but could never get past 12/24. Then, I didn't want the concerns of having to move sites if I had more than one ressie. We would lose most of a day at the park if this were to happen. AND, there are two families going so we'd have to have TWO ressies for that time frame, close together, yada yada yada.
Anyway, this is our last trip for at least a year so I just want to make sure the kids have a good time at the parks. They aren't too concerned about the campgrounds as they can ride bikes and swim anywhere. We actually stayed at this particular off-site campground for one nite in May before getting into FW and they LOVED the pool. We will just decorate like crazy and other than not having chip and dale, they won't know the difference! I imagine with the crowds at the parks that we will be getting in late each nite so not alot of time for campground activities.

which off sit campground are you staying at? When I had multy ressies last year they did not make me change sites. But I think it will be better peace of mind just knowing that you have one ressie. You could come over to visit FW and do the campfire one night . Anyway I know if your like me it doesn't matter where thw family stays as long has the family is together.Being holiday time its true you will most likely have hardly anytime to enjoy the campground .

We will be staying at Tropical Palms. We only stayed one nite there this past May so we didn't get to check it out alot but it seemed nice enough. We literally pulled in after dark, hooked up, woke up the next am (I was sick as a dog) un-hooked, made a run to Camper World then checked in early at FW (thank goodness since I was so sick!)
But the kids really liked the pool as is was very well heated! And it seems nice enough for bike riding IF we get the chance. I hope we can do a little bit as one of my kids will be getting a bike from Santa.
