Favorites and least favorites. I'm talking about the CLASSICS! Rudolph, Frosty, The year without a Santa Claus, Santa Claus is coming to town, The little drummer boy. Rankin/Bass at it's finest!

Year without a Santa Claus was my favorite........ loved Heat Miser and Snow Miser!

Little drummer boy was my least favorite... even though the lamb doesn't die- I used to get so upset when he got hurt.

For contemporary movies..... I think it's a toss up between The Santa Clause and Elf.

For older Christmas Movies..... gotta be A Christmas Story...... the narration cracks me up!:santa:

I LOVE all of the Rankin/Bass specials but The Year Without a Santa Claus is my all time favorite!!! Gotta love the Miser Brothers. I have Heat and Snow Miser Ornaments for my tree.

Rudolph (the original before they "remastered" it) is my all time favorite!! I also like Shrek the Halls as a newer one

A Christmas Story and the 2 Home Alones are also faves, as well as The Santa Clause and the Miracle on 34th Street remake. This Christmas is also a good one. I have the Year Without Santa Claus and Santa Claus is Comin To Town on my DVR to watch for the first time

Loved little drummer boy but I agree, I always got upset when Baba got hurt haha

I don't mean to offend all the people who love the movie A Christmas Story, but.....

I had seen bits and pieces of it (probably about a hundred times) but the movie never interested me.
After reading all the favorite Christmas movie threads and constantly seeing the movie mentioned, we decided to watch it.
I ordered it from Netflix and watched it the other day. So not my favorite Christmas movie. I found it just plain irritating. And not an enjoyable movie. Don't get me wrong, I love comedies. I guess when I think of Christmas movies, irritating ones just don't pop to the top of the list for me.

Last night we watched Miracle on 34th street (for the 150th time). We love that movie. (the original one)

Different strokes for different folks I guess....

My favorites are Santa Claus is Coming to Town, The Year Without a Santa Claus, and The Grinch.

I also like Rudolf, Frosty, and Charlie Brown Christmas.

It's not a favorite of mine, either. Some parts are kind of funny (I like the party when he's in the bathroom with his decoder ring), but...nah...it's just the kind of over the top humor that I really don't like.

I agree I love the Miser brothers.
But I always wrap gifts while Scrooge is playing in the background.
The 1970 version with Albert Finney.

Favorite classic Christmas special - Santa Claus is Coming to Town - I love the format of the narrator answering questions from kids, and the old claymation.

Least Favorite - Nestor, the Long-eared Christmas Donkey - Children's Christmas specials should not be sad. It made me cry as a child, and I still resfuse to watch it again.

Favorite Christmas Movie - Miracle on 34th St. - I love them all (have recently discovered a 4th this year) but the first one, with Natalie Wood as Susan, is still the best.

I don't think I have a particular least favorite in the movie category.

Yeah, I have to agree. I am not into this movie - I get irritated that they do a marathon of it :rotfl: Now, I love goofy comedy (National Lampoons rocks!) but I just found this movie to be the equivelant of a Married...With Children Christmas movie. My DH likes it, however, so I'm sure it will play at least once this season.

I love Christmas Vacation. The cartoon specials are okay, I'm not a huge cartoon fan. I do like Charlie Brown Christmas, though.

Right now im watching Mr Magoos christmas carol(this guy i used to work with and i used to always sing the songs starting in Oct) My favorite i think is a muppet family christmas, which i watched yesterday. I cant think of any i particularly dont like

Putting my flame-retardant suit on for my reply ... :)

As a kid, I had never seen It's a Wonderful Life. I don't think they showed it too often back then (early/mid '70s). I did, however, see It Happened One Christmas - a pretty much word-for-word remake of IAWL starring Marlo Thomas, Wayne Rogers and Cloris Leachman as the angel.

I absolutely LOVED it - it quickly became my favorite Christmas movie. It wasn't until I was much older that I found out it was a remake of IAWL.

I have since seen IAWL, but nothing will beat It Happened One Christmas in my opinion ;)

Emmett Otter's Jugband Christmas

I am not a fan of the stop-motion films. Didn't like them when I was a kid and thought the vocals were annoying. So I tuned them out when they came on. I still can't watch them. I know that is probably against Disboard rules--but there you have it!

I also enjoy the original Miracle on 34th Street and It's a wonderful life.

Contemporary Pieces: Scrooged, The Santa Clause, Home Alone. Not too much into the sequels.

and while Christmas Vacation has its funny parts, I'm not loving some bits of it anymore. Not sure why--still funny, but just would prefer less F-bombs.

I also like While You Were Sleeping, though it doesn't take place just at Christmas. But it does start out that way.

I like most versions of a Christmas Carol, including the one with the Muppets.

It's a Wonderful Life is my least favorite movie of all time. I'm chanting "Jump, George, just jump," under by breath throughout the film when I am inevitably forced to watch it.

Santa Clause is Coming to Town is my favorite "animated' show--just watched it this afternoon as a matter of fact.

Miracle on 34th-the original-and It's a Wonderful Life are up there for "old" movies.

I like Santa Clause 2 and the first Home Alone for new movies.

I have never seen Elf but I need to some day.

I love the original "Grinch". and most of the variations of "A Christmas Carol." I really don't like sappy movies like "It's a wondrful life." And i hate "Scrooged"--just can not stand Bill murray
