I am usually well under way on my Christmas shopping by now - I like to spread it out over a period of time versus pouring out money over 6 weeks.

So far, we've purchased 2 DVDs for the kids... That's it. We never do much shopping anyway, but still, I feel so far behind!

Anyone else in the same boat?? :confused3

We usually don't start until Black Friday. Occasionally we will find something before that, but not always.

I am usually doing pretty well with shopping by this point but my DH's work threw a monkey wrench into things this year. At the beginning of the year his company decided to push their quarterly bonuses back by a month. I usually do the majority of my shopping once my DH gets his bonus in mid October, but now since it won't be here until the 19th of this month I haven't been doing much shopping. I am alomst done with my DD though, I got her Lanie from AG when QVC was having their show in September and I've picked up quite a few things for her over the past few months. Girls are always so easy to buy for, my boys are a little tougher, especially my DS15 who still doesn't know what he wants yet.

I hate shopping early BUT I have bought a few Lego sets for my DS. The Star Wars sets are notorious for selling out before Christmas, having learned this the hard way I now try to buy these quickly-even tho I hate shopping early.

I LIKE shopping during the Christmas season so I don't usually start until Black Friday or later. If I see a deal on something before then, like the Itunes cards Walmart had on sale, I will pick them up though. I don't even know what we are buying for anyone yet. We are contimplating getting a new tv for our basement family room and Target has one on the Black Friday deals so if we get that, we will do that.

See I'm wondering if the same will happen with the Harry Potter sets, especially with the movie coming out in a couple weeks... I bought DS the quidditch one as a tester and it went over like gangbusters! I think SIL is getting him the Burrow - I am considering rounding out his gifts from us with Hagrid's Hut, but I'm still not sure. DH won't help (then again, he never does). All I know is that we aren't spending much more than $100/kid.

We really don't spend much on Christmas - DH's family never could afford to, my family didn't see the point in massive spending. It's more about the personal gifts - that they were specially picked for someone.

I am really behind this year...I'm taking a class that is seriously eating up all of my time. I can't even think about Christmas shopping yet. And the final isn't until 12/22 so it doesn't give me much time to shop:sad2: No class the week of Thanksgiving though so I am hoping to get out the night that I am usually in class to shop.

I'm almost finished shopping. I wanted to be finished by the end of Oct, but that didn't happen. I have a baby due in a few weeks and there is no way I'm taking a newborn into the Christmas shopping madness. Anything I haven't bought by the time the baby is born will be left for DH to pick up, and he HATES shopping. With 6 kids this Christmas, 2 of them with birthdays within days of Christmas day, we have a lot of presents to buy. It's difficult to do that much shopping and enjoy the holiday season.

By this time every year, I'm about half done. I haven't even started.

I just can't get motivated this year. :confused3

I say it every year...but maybe THIS will be the year that everyone gets cash or a gift card :rotfl:

Haven't started NOT going to start any time soon. DD's bday is 12/1 and I do have 1 thing for that but I'll wait a week or 2 until I get the rest.

Shopping early means I just buy more.

I have some ideas but I'll start actually buying in early Dec. The only exceptions are for things that might sell out. My mom is getting DS a 'hot' item this year that I'm supposed to pick up so it is at our house and I'll likely get that as soon as I can when DS isn't with me.

I am generally finished Christmas shopping before Thanksgiving. I normally start shopping the day after Christmas and shop all year long. I don't like the stress of last minute shopping, and I like to be finished with my shopping, decorating, everything except cooking by Dec. 1. This year, I have only bought TWO gifts. I had a dream (nightmare) a month ago that it was Christmas Eve and I was still out shopping for gifts, LOL.

This year, I drastically cut my shopping list from 30 something people to 14. Most of them are getting money or gift cards. There will be no more years with 125 - 150 gifts under my tree(s), no more spending $3000 plus on gifts. I made up my mind last Christmas that I was being ridiculous and it was stupid to buy so many gifts that nobody needed. So far I have been able to stick to my guns. I hope to give my family some nice gifts that they really want, and quality over quantity. I'm asking for gift lists, and if I don't get them, they're getting cash. :) The younger kids who have everything are getting gift cards.

"kind of"

I have picked up a couple small things for DD as I find them. I always do most of it after Thanksgiving when I get ideas from family. . I love doing it during the season!:santa:

I have not bought the first thing. I will definitely NOT be shopping on Black Friday.

I really just got started in the last week (and I'm usually done by now except for the name exhanges which we get at Thanksgiving). I work Black Friday. I don't know when I'm going to get it all done.

No purchased items yet, but I'm not worried... Still plenty of time..:santa:

Heck, we celebrate Hanukkah which starts in less than 4 weeks and we haven't done any shopping yet

I have ordered a few things online but they are gifts they are going to be delievered to some relatives and friends who live outside the U.S.

I will probably do some shopping on Black Friday. I taking a few days off during the first week of December because my cousin is going to be staying with me while he visits relatives so I will probably do most of my shopping that day.

I was late with getting started with the shopping, and I'm getting stressed about it! I'm trying to buy a few things here and there, and may have to head out on Black Friday to get caught up with shopping if there are good doorbusters and sales. :headache:

I voted other. I don't do Black Fridays. But I did take DD12 out yesterday so she can give me some idea of what she would like. We were out for 3 hours:scared1: She actually didn't see that much and hasn't asked for much, but she does love to "look" at stuff.

But when I do go out and shop, it will be a one day trip and get if over with.
