Christmas resort

If you could stay at any resort during December which would it be and why? We are torn between WL and The Grand Floridian.

Between WL and the GF, I’d definitely choose WL.

But my favourite resort in December is POFQ. I love the jazzy Christmas music and decorations. Plus it just feels so quiet and cozy to come back to after a busy park day.

We love POFQ too! Unfortunately, it doesn’t work for our family anymore. I wish they would add the 5th sleepers there like other resorts and we would definitely be staying there.

I also really love The Contemporary in December. It’s not a place I want to stay in the summer, but around Christmas? I love the vibe there.

Unpopular opinion, but I find the noise and chaos of the gingerbread house in the GF main lobby kind of annoying. Fine to visit, don’t like staying there. Much prefer WL’s Christmas vibe - best tree and setting on property (in my humble opinion). Great soundtrack too.

Are you talking this year or 2024? I ask because if you haven't booked yet, you don't have much of a chance of staying anywhere this December. But, given a choice between the two, I'd probably go WL but only because it's one of the few resorts I haven't stayed at yet.

WL. AKL has a similar vibe with the design of the lobby and the tree. We're heading to WL in two weeks largely because I wanted to be there during the holiday decoration season. GF is nice during the season but a bit more formal and colder although lovely. WL is just a cozier warmer feeling IMO.

WL by a mile - GF is fine for visiting but the lobby is way too hectic for me to stay there in Dec…

Stayed at GF during Christmas time and absolutely loved it, even DH We loved it so much that it became our favorite deluxe. At the end of the day, instead of heading straight back to our room, we would grab a drink, soda or stronger, and sit in the lobby just looking at the tree, decorations, ginger bread house, people etc. It really cannot be beat. We also liked WL but if we had to pick one then it would be GF.

Added: I will also add that with the deluxe prices the way they are now, we would stay at a value or Mod and save $$ and just do a day to go around and see the resort decorations, even with the fact that we love GF at Christmas.

Yes, we are going 9-16. There’s actually quite a bit of availability for that week. We have Wilderness Lodge booked. Considering doing a split stay at The GF and it is also still showing availability. I was shocked.

We have stayed at both during Christmas time and preferred WL. It just has that homey Christmasy feeling with the fireplace and the decorations. That being said, we went to GF that year for Christmas Eve and got the best family pic with Mickey & Minnie. Love the GF too, but preferred the down home feel of WL. But you can't go wrong with either!

It really depends on what you would prefer for ambience. WL has a rustic, pacific northwest vibe. GF is more Victorian.
For me...it's WL. The brook that runs through the lobby, the enormous, beautiful tree, the fireplace. I just love it.

WL for me with AKL as a very close runner-up. You can't go wrong with GF though. A WL/GF split stay was on my radar for this year's Christmas week trip but BWV won out so that I could get both an MK and EP resort holiday feel. Besides, the BWV is a much better value and that saved me some serious points.

Well and BWV is the best location on property imo! Can’t go wrong with any resort at Disney at Christmas! Love it!

WL for sure. Staying at GF now and the tree isn’t even up yet but the lobby feels like Grand Central Station most of the day with the Gingerbread House. Came over to WL for a QS dinner tonight to escape it.

How is the monorail traffic at GF right now? We check in soon. DVC rental so couldn't change after reading about how crazy it can be in the lobby.

OP, we have a split BR, RIV, VGF starting next week so I feel your dilemma!
