I just read on another board that the Christmas Parade is going to be filmed this Saturday and more filming on the 18th!

Am I even going to be able to get into the gate at noon this Saturday?

This throws a real curve into our plans. Josh Grobin is supposed to be there and although I'd love to hear him sing, the shoulder to shoulder crowds that are sure to be there has me running :scared:

I really don't want to deal with those kind of crowds but I really want to see the Remember Fireworks that night. What to do....

Anyone been there during the taping of the Christmas Parade?

We were there during the parade filming a few years ago, and it monopolized the hub area all day. The crowds were no higher than normal, but it was difficult to get from area to area, and we saw that portion of the parade SO many times. It was fun to watch the parade on TV though. We TIVO'd it, and even saw my brother in the background of one of the shots of the parade.

We were there last year on the day they filmed the parade. Great for catching celebrities, but not so great for getting around. It was impossible to cross the Hub area. To get from Tomorrowland to Adventureland you had to walk all the way through Fantasyland then through the dance pavilion area, the Mexican restaurant, then Frontierland, then to Adventureland. We saw Miley Cyrus with her entourage (hair, makeup, assistant, etc.); believe she was in the parade. I'd skip it. But if you go, be flexible.

How about taking the train, or do they not run it that day? If the hub is impossible to maneuver around, how will we be able to see the fireworks?

One of my sons thinks this is great...he really likes Josh Grobin. My daughter thinks it's cool that she may get a chance to see the Christmas Parade more than once this trip. And me....I have a headache. :lmao:

Oh bother! This trip has had so many darned surprises, I feel like I'm already on one of the Disney roller coasters. :rotfl:

By some freak of a chance we have planned Legoland for the 18th..thank goodness!

Flexibility is the key and have a back up plan. Great thing is maybe lines for rides will not be as as bad as everyone is in the hub! Try and get as much done before the parade ends because that is when all heck will break loose. It happened to us on Valentine's Day at WDW. A couple had won a dream wedding at the castle. Everyone within 100 square miles was at the castle watching the wedding....us? We walked on every single ride!

Yes, the train runs during the day.

They stop filiming the parade at night. The hub should be as crowded as for any other viewing of the fireworks.

Also, be advised, they just don't run the parade. There is a lot of starting and stopping to get the correct film shots.

We were there last year and saw Hannah Montana and Ryan Seacrest. AJ and Ali were also performing, but couldn't get close.

Oh my -- I love Josh Groban!! I would fight the crowds to see him live LOL! I went to his concert a few months ago and he is absolutely phenomenal -- and to see him at DL . . . . I would love it  But I guess with those crowds, it might make it difficult . . .
I hope you get to still go and have fun!

We were there this weekend last year but we went to DCA on Saturday. Just FYI the park was at capacity all 3 days with signs on harbor that said Disneyland was full so just be prepared for that. I would definitely make sure you go when the park opens and get a hand stamp so you can get back in later in the day if you have to leave.

Is there any way you can go to Disneyland on Fri or Sunday instead and do DCA on Saturday? That is what we did and it worked out great. We stayed for away from DL on Saturday and had no problems. If you HAVE to go to DL I would just do as the others advised. Good luck!

Thanks for posting this, I've been wondering when they were going to film it and was afraid it would be this weekend. I just planned a last minute trip down, but won't get there until late afternoon Sat. So we'll have to deal with residual crowds, but we'll miss the masses on Main Street.

This gives me encouragement though. The holiday season wasn't supposed to officially start until the 16th. But if they are filming the parade, then the snow will be complete on the castle. That's what I really want to see.

We have 5-day Park Hoppers so we have some flexibility, but the main goal is to see "Remember" Saturday night.

We won't arrive at SNA until 9:30 AM so I figure we won't get into the park until sometime between 11 - 12 noon.

I would love to just go to DCA until 7:00 then head over to DL for the fireworks, but I'm afraid we won't be able to get into DL if the park hits capacity.

We have a pretty tight schedule all week and if we don't do Disney on Saturday, then we will waste one of our passes.

Besides...there's no way the other 7 who are going with me will not want to go the DL the first day...especially since we're staying at the BWPPI and can see the entrance right across the street :rotfl:

Decisions, Decisions...:confused3

Hey got2travel, I found pictures of the snow on the castle (from last week) on the mouseplanet website. It might give you a fix until you're there to see it in person!! Here's the link (if it doesn't work, it means I have no idea how to do it)

Thanks for the picutres. I've seen some similar ones. I think it's going to turn out really good. I was a little apprenhensive when I first heard about it. Can't wait to see when it's all finished. I'm just sad that we are not going to be able to see the holiday version of the fireworks so we could get the whole snow effect.

Where do they perform at?

DD8 is crazy about Hannanh Montana and we will be there starting Saturday. We were actually going to spend the day with my Dad at his house, but if DD could see Miley Cyrus, we may go to the park that day.

Any idea how to catch her?

...and can I ask where this information is coming from?

11/18 is supposed to be my familys first visit to Disneyland and I'd rather it not be complete chaos and insanity if it's avoidable!

They usually perform right in front of the castle.

That was last year's line up. I'm sure they'll have completely different people this year. I wouldn't count on seeing Hannah Montana. Although, Ryan Seacrest may still be hosting.

I'm so confused. The link posted seems to indicate it is being filmed "this weekend" meaning Veterans Day weekend, and not the 18th. Anyone know which one it really is?
