Christmas & NYE in Paris

My name is Terence from Canada. We will visit paris in early morning of Dec 25 , 2006 for a week. Got some questions:

Q1 on Christmas Day, other than touring Effiel tower/DLP, what special activities are available in Paris city during daytime?
(Any street parade/show ? Flea markets ? Opera Garnier opens?)

Q2 Is Dec 26th considered Boxing day in Paris and thus discounted shopping ?

Q3 On New Year's Eve, where would be the best spot to watch Fireworks - countdown ?

Just wanted to say have a fabulous time in Paris.

I got engaged NYE 1995 in Paris but we were at a dinner dance in the hotel so I couldn't tell you what the centre of paris was like.
