Christmas morning breakfast with older teens?

Last year was our first going over the actual holiday. Kids are older...18 and 15 this year..but even with my bringing a little blow up tree, gingerbread, playing carols in the room, etc they admitted that it didn't feel like the holiday and felt a little awkward. That might just be what it is, but I was thinking about maybe doing something "special" Christmas morning. Last year (staying at POP again) we just did the little things in our room and then went to EPCOT--had a great day, but I think it was something "special" on the morning they missed. I don't really want to do a character breakfast because of cost and don't think really needed at that age. Was thinking maybe Grand Floridian Cafe or Whispering Canyon for breakfast before going to MK for the day? Was also trying to think of something particularly festive in MK (we'll have FP for later so OK if we don't rush right to rides) but couldn't really come up with anything. Any ideas?

We ate a late breakfast at BOG Christmas morning. We sat in the ballroom right beside the Christmas tree. We loved it! It felt Christmasy. :)

I think either GF Cafe or WCC would be lovely. I personally would choose WCC. As gorgeous as GF is at Christmas, I think WL is even more beautiful. I don't know what your plans are for later that evening, but we did a private sleigh ride at Ft. W one year to see the Christmas decorations there and that was really lovely and special.

WL does look AMAZING at Christmas! I for one could NOT not be at home at Christmas (Im old fashioned) but breakfast at WCC and hanging out by the tree at WL would be nice!!!

If you are going to the MK that day, have you considered The Plaza for breakfast? I think it would be magical to walk down Main Street on Christmas morning, and to be honest, this was one of our family's favorite meals. I think getting into the park earlier rather than later would be beneficial as well.

We always catch the Candlelight Processional on Christmas Eve and then go to one of the church services at the Contemporary on Christmas morning (then eat lunch at Chef Mickey's and go swimming weather permitting). We actually keep Christmas Day as a non park day.

WL at Christmas is on my goals list for sure. The resort is beautiful and I have seen photos of how they decorate during holiday season.

I would...

Ask the kids if Christmas breakfast sounds like a fun idea.

Due to family dynamics, I had 2 Christmases each year and often traveled on Christmas day. This started in my early teens so it took some getting used to. New traditions can be made. Ours was, no matter where we traveled, we found a local donut place open on Christmas morning and started the day with all the doughnuts we could eat. Simple but now that feels like Christmas to me more then waking up to a tree.

We love both WCC and GFC. My tip would be to budget for a Minnie van or uber/lyft and plan plenty of time to be there. For me, the buses would take away from Christmas morning but you know your family best.

I was able to get 8:30 am BOG breakfast reservations and I think that will be a good fit! Thank you so much for all the help!
