I have searched online and via Chat. I am getting different answers. Chat CM says no word on any church services for this Christmas which is 11 days away (I take that as no.)
When you google or look at Disney's website, there is a Disney Park Panel reply from 2022 that mentions times for Catholic and Protestant services at Contemporary and Caribbean Beach.

Does anyone know what exactly is happening this year for Christmas onsite? I'm trying to plan my day for Christmas and if I need to account for offsite church and transportation.

We went to WDW last Easter and I was very disappointed we had to go offsite to attend mass on Easter morning. It basically took all morning. Be prepared for heavy traffic getting to whatever church you choose. We went to Our Lady of the Universe and took an Uber, and had to get out and walk the last mile just to make it on time. Then two cars caught on fire in the parking lot and they evacuated the church! We ended up having lunch and waiting out the traffic to call another Uber to get back to our hotel. So I will never do WDW again on Easter! I don’t know why they stopped allowing on site services ☹️. When we scheduled our trip we had planned on a nice Easter brunch at Grand Floridian after mass, and having to go offsite took so long it basically ruined our day. We did end up going to MK that day in the evening but by then it started thunder storming so that was that.

Thanks for your reply. I figure if the CM doesn't have the info by now, then it's not happening. The thing that confused me was that on the plan Disney part of the site, it gives a relatively recent reply with Mass times for Christmas. Someone asked a question in November, I believe.

I can’t speak to Disney having mass on site but we always go to Celebration for mass. Corpus Christi church. The mass schedule is online. It’s packed at a regular Sunday mass with lots of Disney customers (magic bands) so I’m guessing most Christmas masses would require getting there very early to get a seat.

The Contemporary Resort hosting Christmas church services (and Easter) for Protestants and Catholics has been a long tradition. I've taken part in the services there myself for Easter. I think the practice started as a practical accommodation for visitors because WDW was initially "out in the middle of nowhere". But it's not any more.

We were at WDW for Thanksgiving 2022 and also attended the Catholic Church named Corpus Christi in Celebration for both daily and Sunday masses and found it easy to get to and refreshing in itself. You just head south down World Drive past Hwy 192 and keep going south past I4 and you intersect with Celebration Boulevard and head for 1050 Celebration AVENUE where the church is. Very little traffic in this direction (have been to Queen of the Universe Basilica and while a great church, it's via the busy Hwy 535 and towards the Shopping Outlets). Google Maps had my trip as about 16 minutes from Fort Wilderness where I was staying.

Honestly, even in the old days taking Disney transportation to the CR, it took longer than 16 minutes to get there. Convenient, maybe. Quick, no generally speaking. If there are services at the Contemporary and/or Coronado this year, great. But given the travel time to get to some of the Disney parks, going off property for Christmas services is not a big deal.

Corpus Christi Christmas services are listed in their 12/11/22 bulletin here on the 2nd page: Christmas Service Times Here. So keep checking for on-property services but if not available, off-property services are within easy reach regardless of your denomination.

I agree going to church off-site can be an adventure in itself! I’ve been to Our Lady Queen of the Universe on a weekday just to visit. They have a very nice art collection if you’re into that sort of thing.

Thanks so much. I did already check the other church schedules. I have been very confused because in some parts of Disney's site, they list the times at CR and CB, but in other places there's no mention. And then the CM sort of confirmed for me.

I understand you wanting to go to a church service to celebrate Christmas and I think it was nice that there is/were services offered on property. I just wanted to offer a couple alternatives to going off property. Does your home church offer an online service? If so you could watch it in your hotel room or at a quiet place in the park (with headphones). I have been in the parks for Easter and often watched my home service while getting ready or while in line for attractions. Another option would be going to Candlelight Processional at Epcot, not exactly the same as a mass but it still tells the Christmas story and has traditional Christmas music.

I’m going to cancel my Amex platinum this week. Not a big enough traveler to keep it with such a massive annual fee. already got a retention last year.

I never thought I’d like Walmart+ but will miss it. Have been stuck home with covid all week and have gotten like 5 orders shipped or delivered. So easy. My husband will not miss random people coming and dropping of one thing on our porch.
Wrong thread 😉

None of these suggestions are workable, though, for a Catholic concerned about what's called a Holy Day of Obligation, which Christmas is.

Catholics are required to attend Mass in person on these major holidays unless ill, seriously injured or somewhere there's no Catholic church within a reasonable distance. Dangerously bad weather is another exception to this obligation.

It's a very serious sin for a Catholic not to attend Mass on these holy days when conditions permit attendance. Finding a church and getting to it become part of a devout family's travel plans.

No but if they did so for decades and people got used to it then it’s just good customer service to clearly address it.
I agree that Disney ought to be specific if not offering any religious services on property is the new policy.

There's much confusion, I'm sure, since it's only within the past 10 years or so that our society has become far more religiously varied than it was.

Quick reminder of DIS Guidelines.

5. POLITICS/RELIGION
Because of the large number of complaints of personal attacks related to these subjects and inability for many people to keep a civilized conversation when discussing these hot-button topics, politics and religion will no longer be appropriate topics on our forums. Political or religion based posts or threads will be removed, and repeated violations of this rule can result in an infraction.

For clarity, questions regarding Disney’s Christmas Mass offerings or alternative area options are perfectly fine as that is Disney planning related. Other comments and opinions, not so much.

Thank you.
