This year I plan to finally see the lights at the campground. I am planning on arriving by boat. and then walking the loops and taking the bus if there are any big gaps between loops. What is the best way to do this? What order should I see the loops in and are there loops that I should skip? Should we walk the cabins? I was thinking of starting just after sunset is that too early? About how long is the walk in miles and time? I know they have the wagon and carriage rides but I am determined to cut back my spending this year. Plus it will help walk off all the holiday treats. Thanks for the help.

well, reneejasmine, in no particular order...

Don't plan on seeing ALL the loops - there are too many. There are several loops on the end of the Fort near the boat docks that you can cover on foot. How many sites will be decorated depends on how close you are to Christmas.

Cabins don't decorate as much based on what I've heard but if I am wrong someone will correct me. I'd say after dark is a fine time to stop. Supposedly the lights are due to be turned off by 10pm if folks are following the rules (not hard with automatic timers).

So come over and check it out.

1) Correct.
2) Campers & RVers can pack lights and decorations in their units.
3) Cabin-Dwellers don't have places to park elaborate lights, especially if they fly.
4) As for walking the campground, the place IS HUGE.
. . . the campground if aprox 1-mile from the check-in building to the Settlement (Trail's End, Crockett Tavern, HDDR)
. . . roughly 750 acres, (just under 1.2 square miles)
. . . cabin quantity = 409
. . . campsite quantity = 788
5) Either rent a bike or golf cart
6) Of course, you can take a bus, but the busses do not go into the loops, just past them on the main roads
