Christmas in Washington TV special - does the MIL ever smile?

I'm just watching the second half of Christmas in Washington, I missed the first half. I noticed everytime they panned the First Family in the audience, Mrs. Obama's mother never smiled. She looked like she was not enjoying the performances at all!

The oldest daughter is somewhat the same way. i think it is just being uncomfortable being in the spotlight. I am not sure I would want the camera on me the whole time either.

Dh and I commented on this all through the Inauguration Parade. It was killing us that this woman did NOT crack 1 inch. It was so bad we thought she was affecting whether the girls had a good time. Its been 2 years woman, a smile won't kill you.

I'm not sure I could be "camera ready" at all times either. She doesn't appear to seek out the spotlight.
