Christmas in the World Dining Reviews 12-20 to 12-26 updated 2/7

We love Sunshine Seasons too. Really can't go wrong there, something for everyone. I love their salads, DH loves the rotisserie chicken and well DS loves everything. I, too, was underwhelmed by the Strawberry Shortcake. Now the Key Lime Pie was really good!:goodvibes

Ok, sorry it’s been awhile but I’m back with more……Today was our day at the Magic Kingdom. Everyone was very excited and I was especially excited to try LTT for lunch:yay: . We began our morning with a light breakfast, the cinnamon rolls I had picked up in Norway the night before. Well, I took one bite and thought it was one of the nastiest things I’d ever tasted. Apparently not for me as my DH thought it was pretty good. The girls had cereal that DH had picked up over at the Beachclub Marketplace. So we were then off the MK. This was a day that the weathermen got totally wrong:confused: . It was supposed to be warm so we were all in shorts and just happened to take a jacket (thank goodness). It was cold all day!! So as you can imagine moods were not too good this day. But we made the best of it. After many rides that morning we made it to our ADR at LTT around 11:30. Let me just say on this particular day the hostess people were not very friendly (I really think it must have had something to do with the gloomy weather). Anyway, we were seated on the upper level and had a great waiter. As you know we share a lot and today was no exception. DH and I both ordered the mixed field green salad and DH had a bowl of Clam Chowder and I had the Crab Cake. The girls shared the adult Pilgram’s Feast. They did not have a problem with this and brought it to the table already split. In fact, after looking at other plates of this I think my girls ended up with almost as much as a regular adult plate. They really liked this. Tink wasn’t crazy about the mashed potatoes but loved everything else and Minnie didn’t care for the stuffing (not something I really ever make). On the advice of other Diser’s I asked for rolls and butter. I noticed all the people in our seating section had also asked for rolls. So if you want them you do need to ask for them at lunch. DH loved the Clam Chowder and it was perfect for a day like today. My Crab Cake was sooooo good! Full of crab. I could have eaten about 2 or 3 of these but one was plenty along with the salad and roll. I also loved the Strawberry Vinigarette on the salad, very tasty. This was a really nice meal and really unexpected for the rest of the family. We would definitely return. Once again the girls each received a cupcake for their birthday (this would be the last day we celebrated) and the waitstaff all came over and sang their Happy Birthday song and proclamation:woohoo: .

Later this day we got a bucket of popcorn popcorn:: to share during the parade (while we waited). I just don’t know what it is about WDW popcorn but it is so good and didn’t last long.

This evening we did not have any ADR’s so after reading good things about Beaches and Cream we decided to venture over there and see what the wait time was. We were told about 25 minutes so we took the pager and after about 15 minutes we were seated. Let me start off by saying we were not impressed. We did not have a very good waitress and it really put a damper on the meal. None of us were extremely hungry so it’s vacation and the girls just wanted French Fries and Ice Cream and it was ok with us. We all ordered water to drink and you would have thought we had put a stake through the heart of the waitress. She acted like we were horrible parents for not letting the kids have a soda. They did not want one and they never finish it anyway so why order it if they aren’t going to drink it. I ordered a Cheeseburger and Fries and DH ordered Chili. Minnie ordered chocolate ice cream and Tink ordered the Fudge Mudslide Sundae. Well, wouldn’t you know it the ice cream came out first and she just slammed it on the table. Then the fries cames and them finally the burger and the chili. It was really unbelievable. The food was just ok at best. The girls enjoyed their ice cream. When it came time to pay our waitress was no where to be found so the girls and I left to go back to the room and DH stayed back to pay. This of course, is just my opinion but I would not go back, it’s just not worth it:sad1: .

So after a long break where was I? Oh yes, today would be Sunday December 23rd our Animal Kingdom day. I believe we had picked up some cereal at the Beach Club Marketplace again today for breakfast. Today was a day where we had no ADR’s. We really just planned on winging it and seeing what we could come up with. This was a day where the park was not all that crowded so we rode many rides by the time we walked past Yak and Yeti. I told DH to take a look at the menu and after checking it out he wanted to eat there. So I made a mental note to come back We made it back there around 11:20am and asked to be seated. It was no problem and I think we got the best seat in the house. We were seated upstairs on the porch in the corner so we had windows all around us. It was so much fun to watch the crowds below. We had a great server, I don’t remember her name but she was very good and knowledgeable. I immediately ordered the Yak Attack which is a Mango Daiquiri w/rum and some berry liqueur. It was incredibly good. The only picture I have from here is me with the drink almost gone. I may post it. I ordered the Crispy Honey Chicken and shared it with Tink. DH ordered the Seared Ahi Tuna. Minnie had the Kids Chicken Bites w/French fries and Chicken Fried Rice. We all really enjoyed this meal. Everything tasted really good. The only issue I had was the portion size of the Crispy Honey Chicken was very small. Too small to share in my opinion. It came with Rice and Steamed Broccoli. We would definitely return.

After a late afternoon swim and having done some laundry we headed over to the Boardwalk for some pizza from the window at Spoodles. This was one of the highlights of this trip. It was so fun to sit on the bench looking out at the water and enjoying a really good piece of pizza. I would highly recommend this. We then headed over to MGM Studios to see the Osborne Lights. No words can describe this. Worth the whole trip in our opinion. I believe we stopped for some popcorn after we finished wandering around the backlot. Definitely a great day.

Thanks for writing and posting your reviews. I am looking forward to reading more :goodvibes

I have to say that on a visceral level I really have issues with the idea of eating in a restaurant with the word "yak" in its name ... However, your drink presents me with a dining paradox in that it sounds both tasty and disgusting. :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Perhaps the next time the hubby and I make it to WDW we can get one of these from a take away window ... that way I can have a yak attack in private and it won't disturb anyone.

Enjoying your reviews so far - your girls are very cute! :goodvibes

LTT crab cakes are MY FAVORITE!!!! I totally agree with you. They should make them a meal on the menu!! YUM YUM:)

Thanks everyone for the replies.

TigerKat - Yes, we were having a great vacation. Especially that day as that is Minnie's favorite park.

Oybolshi - You can get the Yak Attack at the drink window. It is worth the stop. Have a Yak Attack and then attack the Yeti. Very fun!!!! OT-I'm a Missouri girl too. Born and raised on the opposite side of the state from you but don't hold that against me!

Mommyto2 - We will probably make LTT a must do for lunch now. Those crab cakes are just too good.

FamilyS - Thanks for staying with me. I'm a little slow on getting this done but I only have 2 more days left:sad1: Hopefully I'll get those done here in the next couple of days.

Love the sound of the Yak Attack - we will definitely be trying Yak and Yeti on our next trip :)

Ok, 1’m back!!! I hope to finish this very soon. Today’s review is Christmas Eve. This was the day we did not have any plans what so ever other than going to Epcot. I guess our plan was to Eat Around the World. After a morning in Future World (of which we got to ride Spaceship Earth). We decided to head to Mexico since that is where Tink really wanted to eat. She chose the Nachos. I was very skeptical about these but I snacked on a few and they were actually very good. Minnie thought she should have a Churro and I of course, made my way to the Margarita Stand. I chose a Strawberry Margarita because there is one flavor in the Fiesta Margarita that I just do not like. As a side note they were not offering the Fiesta Margarita on that particular day. I was really surprised.

Our next food stop was in Germany. I really wanted to go into the Christmas shop to get a Christmas Pickle for our tree. Meanwhile Goofy and Minnie stopped for a Soft Pretzel for Minnie and a beer for Goofy. I have to say I was not impressed with the Pretzel. It had an unusual taste. Minnie thought it was ok but I’m not sure she finished it.

Our next stop for food was Morocco. This was a must for DH and I. We absolutely loved it back in February and knew we had to do it again. It was very busy. We ordered the Chicken and Lamb Shawarma platter. Unfortunately, and I say this with much sadness for me, they were out of the Chicken and wanted to know if we would like the Rotissere Chicken. We declined and said we would wait. They agreed to bring it to us when they had some. Well, the plate was brought out and it had the rotissiere chicken and not the other. I reluctantly ate it but was very disappointed. This did not go the way we had hoped. I also ordered a Tangerine Daiquiri but was told it now was mixed with Pina Colada. Why????? I was very confused but ordered it and it was good just not what I had expected. I don’t think we will go back anytime in the near future

Signing in to hear about your Christmas Day. We are going to spend our first Christmas in DW this year and want to learn all I can. We generally arrive a few days after Xmas. 2DS 10 & 11 are very excited and we want to make it a very special first time away from Home Christmas. Great report.
