Ok, so first let start off by saying we were not on the dining plan. I think it would be fun to do it just once but my DH say no way. It really would not work for us but I still think it would be fun to try to eat all that food.

On to the reviews.

We arrived late on 12/19 and just decided to crash as we had already eaten dinner before we arrived. We drove from Southeast Kansas and had left late on the 18th.

So our 1st meal was a late breakfast at Boma. Yum! I could not wait to get their. Goofy and I had eaten at Boma on our last trip in February (a Mom and Dad trip) and we loved it. We arrived a little before our reservation time at 9:30am. The girls were given birthday cards signed by the staff upon our arrival. We were seated right away and were very close to the buffet. So, the girls and DH went up to the buffet and proceeded to get some food. Minnie’s plate was pretty small. One pancake and some fruit. She then decided to eat some cereal as well. Tink filled her plate with any pastry that had chocolate in it. This will become a common thread throughout the trip. She also had fruit (which by the way they have some of the best looking and tasting fruit on property). DH started with fruit and pastries and worked his way to some of the African inspired dishes especially the biscuits and sausage dish which he loves. I had the fruit, bacon, waffles and pastries. As you can see we are not big eaters and although I love Boma I feel it’s just not a good value for us. This was one of our most expensive meals of the trip (holiday prices on buffets) as we are now 3 adults and 1 child in the eyes of Disney. This was a great meal just not a great value for us. Oh and one more thing since I had indicated we were celebrating the girls birthday’s this trip they both received complimentary Mango Smoothies served in martini glasses. The girls didn’t really like them but I loved them. Unfortunately I was too full and could only finish one of them.:sad2:

Next up Goofy's Candy Company in DTD.

Thanks to Tigerkat, Connears and Minniespal for signing up. TigerKat and Connears I've been following your dining reports as well.

Hi...

Thanks for the reviews I want to try Boma but can't get my husband to go.

Hi...

Thanks for the reviews I want to try Boma but can't get my husband to go.

We went to Boma for Dinner and my husband and I were very scared. We are very plain eaters.....not really willing to try different or weird things.

We really loved it!

We were on the Dining Plan and it was one of our favorite places.

We had dinner and then went to AKL for EMH in the evening. That was very cool/spooky to ride the rapids at night!

We will be going again in May but we might try Boma for Breakfast this time.

See if you can twist his arm.....my husband was glad I did. :goodvibes

Well, after Boma we decided to go to Downtown Disney. This was a non-park day as tomorrow we will be moving to the Yacht Club and starting our park hopping then. After some shopping I thought the girls needed to go to Goofy’s Candy Company. So we ordered the following: Tink: 3 pretzel rods dipped in milk chocolate w/M&M’s and drizzled w/milk chocolate. Minnie: Caramel apple dipped in Milk chocolate w/M&M’s. Silly Girl: Rice Krispie dipped in Milk Chocolate w/butterfinger and drizzled with caramel. These were very good but we could have split 2 items rather than getting 3 as we never finished any of them. Oh well, it was fun doing it. Also the girls were serenaded by the CM’s at GCC after seeing their birthday buttons and received Magical Moments certificates. It was a lot of fun. Just and FYI if you go early as we did around 11:30am there really is no one in there. It’s so much better than going in the evening!!!

Awesome report so far, it's getting me super excited for our trip in *gulp* 4 days!

I LOVE goofy's candy company :lmao:

Well after a much needed break back at ASMU and after the girls swam a little we decided to get on the bus and head towards the Magic Kingdom. We wanted to do the Monorail Tour. On previous trips we have stayed at the Poly so we decided to start there first. It was almost 5:00pm and we did not have ADR’s for that evening so my DH decided to see if they could fit us in at Kona. Well we were seated right at 5:00 near the windows. It was a great area of the restaurant to sit. We’ve eaten at Kona twice in the past and both times have sat right near the walkway as you come into the restaurant. This was so much better. Anyway, we were very hungry as we had not eaten a meal since our morning breakfast at Boma. We started off with just normal soda drinks, Sprite and Diet Coke. I don’t have pictures of this meal but it was one of the best meals we had on the trip. Minnie had the kids Hot Dog w/French fries and ice cream sundae for dessert. Tink thought she would just have the Sticky Wings and the Chocolate Fondue for dessert. Goofy had the Tuna Oscar and I had the Shrimp and Scallops. Minnie was pleased with her meal (she loves hot dogs). Tink thought the Sticky Wings were just OK. Goofy loved the Tuna Oscar:love: , thought it was exceptional. His only complaint was the wasabi hollandaise was just not spicy enough for him. I really enjoy the Shrimp and Scallops. The mango sauce with the shrimp was really good and I would have liked more. I also enjoyed the sticky rice. Tink, Goofy and I all shared the Chocolate fondue and we really enjoyed that. Goofy thought the macaroons were very tasty. I enjoyed a strawberry dipped in the chocolate along with the lace macadamia nut cookies oh so good! Of course Tink had the most and savored every last chocolate bite.:cloud9:

I would rate this meal very high. It definitely was one of the highlights of our dining experiences.:thumbsup2

I'd like to ask a question about the Tuna Oscar. We were so excited about trying this entree and were so disappointed. Were the fried green tomatoes hard as a rock and did you actually have crab in the tempura crab bites? You already addressed one problem we had with this dish, the wasabi being so mild, almost non-existent. Just curious as to how "off" of a night we had.:confused3

Hi TigerKat, I asked my DH about this and he said the fried green tomatoes were firm but not hard and he did have crab in the tempura. I remember him savoring every bite. He said this was his favorite meal of the trip, go figure!!! Anyway, maybe you just had a off night. We did go right at 5:00 so maybe that had something to do with it:confused3 .

Thanks!! I'm glad to hear it was good for him. Three of us ordered it and it was awful.:sad2:

Today’s dining experiences began with ASMU Intermission food court. As I’ve indicated before we are not big breakfast eaters so we just split a blueberry muffin, bagel and some grapes. They were all good. I really like this food court and they seem to have a lot of good choices.

Today was the day we check into the Yacht Club for the remainder of our stay. After some confusion as check in and the long time it took we made our way to MGM. We had 11:35 ADR’s at Sci-Fi Dine In. After winning lanyards at the Animation Studio we made our way to Sci-Fi around 11:30, checked in and were seated right away. This was our 2nd time here for DH and I but the 1st time for the girls (they really wanted to eat here). We were fortunate to be seated in a car and had a great waiter.

The girls started off with Chocolate shakes and I had a Diet Coke. Minnie had her usual hot dog w/fries and Tink had the Chili. Goofy and I split a cheeseburger and had onion rings rather than fries. Goofy also ordered Chili. Tink and Goofy both thought the chili was good. Our cheeseburger was rather plain nothing to write home about. I do appreciate that when you split a meal here they actually bring it to you already split on 2 different plates. We split meals a lot and this rarely happens with the exception of WDW. A funny side note, when another server brought our plates to us she indicated that you get a lot more onion rings when you split the order. Well, I looked at my plate and I only had 3 onion rings as did my DH:rotfl: . Didn’t seem to be a lot of onion rings to me!:confused3 Oh well, I digress. Once again the girls received a little birthday pixie dust. They each received complimentary hot fudge sundaes. They were very good but as usual we were all too full to really finish them. Our waiter also brought them Driver’s Licenses (which are quite funny to read). The girls had a good time and were glad to have eaten here. Overall it was just OK. I don’t think I’ll be going back here again anytime soon but is fun to do once.

Next up: Sunshine Seasons

enjoying your reviews - the photos are great!

looking forward to more!

After our break time at SAB we headed over to Epcot. We did not have dining plans tonight so thought we would try Sunshine Seasons. Tink and I thought we would share some Sushi and Goofy and Minnie decided they would share from the Asian section. Tink and I like California Roll but they were out for the day so we thought the Spicy Sensation sushi looked good. We then grabbed desserts for everyone to share. One strawberry shortcake and one very chocolaty brownie. We met up to pay and Goofy and Minnie had decided on Sweet and sour chicken and some spicy chicken with noodles. It looked and smelled very good. I would have to say this was a very good meal and value. The sushi actually was a California roll, very good but not very spicy. Goofy and Minnie enjoyed their Asian selection and I tried the noodles and they very also very good and flavorful. I do have to give a thumbs down to the strawberry shortcake it just didn’t have much flavor to it. I wouldn’t order it again. Everyone else seemed to enjoy the brownie. As a side note, while getting the desserts the CM behind the counter noticed Tink’s birthday button and gave her a free chocolate chip cookie:) . We thought that was so nice. I would definitely give Sunshine Seasons a big thumbs up. :thumbsup2

While we were waiting to see Illuminations we decided to get hot chocolates, coffee and cinnamon rolls (breakfast tomorrow) in Norway. Everything was fine until the hot chocolate debacle. The CM informed me they only had enough hot chocolate for one rather than two. Ok, no problem. She said she could get more but would have to leave and come back. Well, it was extremely packed and the line was so long I didn't want to hold people up. I said one was fine and then the coffee. Well, we leave after paying and I got 2 cups of coffee and no hot chocolate:confused3 . I'm not sure where the confusion came in but I think I just did not understand her:confused: . Later I decided I needed a Churro and we were right by Mexico so I sent my DH to get one and he and Tink barely made it back in time. Mmmm that Churro was good and hot and we would eat that again as the week went on.
