Hey! I am a lurker on the DISBoards and finally gave into registering. I was hoping that someone could give me advice on this topic. I have a christmas gift idea for my boyfriend but not sure if it is silly/tacky. I wanted to build-a-bear for him. I would put the shirt of his favourite NHL team on it. I'm not sure if he would like this or not. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

It's hard to say without knowing your BF but I think he'll like it. It's a cute idea. Are you giving him anything else with it?

I would be giving him other little things along with it. It was just an idea. I don't know what I should get him.

It is a good idea! Can you get him tickets to see his team play too?

Don't worry...lots of women build bears for their SO's, and lots of guys build them for their SO's as well! Ask the store employees if they would please take a picture of you during your heart ceremony so you can give the picture to your BF as well

Most of all, just have fun and he will too!

I think its a cute idea. I like the tickets to the game too.

unfortunately the tickets are out of the question. his favorite team is on the other side of Canada! maybe i could get tickets to a local team.

I think it is a cute idea, and I would get some other sports related things to go with it. Perhaps get him a jersey of his favorite team to match the bears? An autographed item? Coffee mug with the team's emblem? You should be able to get lots of ideas at a sports-related store.

Does he appreciate cutesy stuff like that? My guy doesn't so I'm just getting him a hockey sweater. It's such a cute idea though

Does "His" team ever play near you? You could make it a weekend if it is too far.

----and welcome to the DIS :wave2:

I think he will like it! Thank you for all your help and great suggestions to go along with the bear.

I don't live near an NHL city. He used to live in Calgary when he was younger so that is "his" team now. The tickets would be out of the question. Thanx anyways.

DD's BF is 22 and is a team roper. Last Valentine's she got him bear that was outfited in a "roper" outfit (roping glove, chaps, spurs, boots, hat, western clothes, and a lasso). He was tickled. He immediately started "fixing" him (said the glove was on the wrong hand, and the rope was coiled wrong! LOL).

My son is your age.......just depends on the young fellow if he would like it.
If my ds's former GF got him that........he would ...........put it far up on the shelf?
:confused3 (Hee). just depends. :goodvibes

He isn't the "manly man" type of guy. We are about an hour away from each other now because of university. I believe the bear will help when we can't be together. I quite positive he will like the "cheesiness" of it.
