Need gift ideas help for dad's new(ish) wife!

Some background info: Last year, my father married a 33 year old woman from Poland. She has only been in the US a couple of years now. She is a big Friends/Sex in the City fan, likes Pasta & Sushi, learning Spanish & English, likes penguins and snoopy and that's about as much as I know about her... :) Last Christmas, we had a bunch of smaller gifts (Like 10 for each person) so I am looking for some ideas for a couple of gifts in the $10/$20 range. I know I shouldn't have such a problem thinking of things, but... there may be a bit of a 'mental block' when it comes to her. :confused3

I do plan to ask my father, but I'd love to find a present or two that he doesn't suggest/know about. So far, I think I am going to one of the many Polish stores here in town and getting a few Polish goodies that she can't get in Cali.

I don't know if there is a Coach outlet near you but this weekend you may be able to find a cheap little wristlet or wallet.

Does she like to read? I just finished One Fifth Avenue by the same author of Sex & The City - Candance Bushnell? (or something like that) It was ok.

Ha! That'd be great for me, but I don't think she'd like it. Last Black Friday we all went to the outlet mall and I was the only one who went into the Coach store.

I am not sure if her English would be good enough for this, but it is a great idea! If she can't read it now, she sure to be able to read it soon enough!

I would say a Gc to a pasta house

I was thinking something similar, but unless I am really stuck at this time next month, would rather stay clear of Gc. My dad is pretty well off (and he still helps me with bills on occasion), so I really don't think a Gc is. I'd rather something a bit personal.

Does she have a tree? how about a nice ornament with Snoopy on it?

Darn..I thought I was coming up with a good one!! If you want to buy her some DVD sets you can try Amazon because they have new sets for a really good price.

I know! I was surprised she didn't go into Coach with me. I definitely scored that day. :)

I have already bought my dad a DVD set, so I was thinking perhaps making a DVD/Chocolate/Snack/popcorn basket as 'duel' gift, but am stuck on DVDs she'd like. I was tryng to think of a TV Show from the late '80s - early '90s she may not have seen much of back in Poland????

what about trying to find that book but in polish?

Might be a little off the wall but I was just in CVS today and they had stuffed Snoopy's. They had different eras also, didn't catch the price.

My BiL used to date a girl who was a Snoopy lover and he found her a charm for her necklace. He bought Snoopy and we bought Woodstock for her for Christmas.

Early 90s maybe 90210?

Or actually how about the Sex and the City movie? I never really watched the show but I really enjoyed the movie so if she likes the show she will prob enjoy the movie as well.

How about making an appointment for both of you for a mani/pedi or facials? Thenyou can both have some quaility "girl time" together.

Does she drink? maybe get her a bottle of wine or vodka...see if you can find a brand from Poland.

I had this problem with a family member as well. I picked up a few Philosophy brand bath and body shower gels and some net Poofs....to this day she is still addicted to the Amazing Grace fragrance.
