How is Christmas Eve at the Fort? As Orlando locals, we absolutely love the Fort! We’ve enjoyed many Halloweens and Fourth of July celebrations at the old cabins, but with the new ones, we haven’t been able to book anything. In a moment of nostalgia—and maybe desperation—I decided to book a tent campsite for Christmas Eve. We’re not planning to camp; I just reserved it to access the Fort, rent a golf cart, and enjoy looping on Christmas Eve.

Has anyone done this before? Am I crazy? Is there enough happening to keep my family entertained? My plan is to head over in the afternoon, pick up the golf cart, watch the parade, and then go home (we’re about 20 minutes away) before coming back in the evening for more looping.

Does this sound completely ridiculous? I’m thinking of keeping it as a surprise for my family, so I can’t really ask their opinions. Would love to hear your thoughts!

Well, if you paid for a campsite, you're entitled to enjoy the resort's amenities.

We have a thread on the page asking about Christmas Eve activities which might be of interest as well. But between looping and maybe the campfire singalong and movie, you could make an evening out of it. Weather looks good for 12/24 (74/59F).

I'd suggest bring a bag of charcoal and some burgers or hot dogs, cooler with drinks, and cook dinner at your campsite. Throw in a string of colored lights and avoid driving home back and forth. MK fireworks, Electric Water Parade, lots to see/do which you could include since you would have a cart to get around to it all.

BTW have you checked on cart availability?

It would be expensive (site + cart) but it would be unique. I would say 'try it once'.

Nope. We're local too and have stayed in the old cabins a few times for the holiday looping. It was such a great experience that it had us rent a trailer (dropped off from a 3rd party) and experienced the Fort in that way.

Considering the price of single daily ticket to a park, I think doing a family-oriented trip around FW on Christmas Eve will be far more memorable and enjoyable. Me? I would park my golf cart and take a boat to WL and having a snack/drink at Geyser Point.
