I am thinking of planning a trip after Thanksgiving, but before Christmas to see WDW done up for Christmas (value season window). How are crowds at that time?

We used to go during the first two weeks of December, and the crowds were always light. I haven't been during that time-frame in about five years though.

Even if they were heavier, I'd still choose that time. WDW during the holidays is so fun. We have so many great family memories! I'm hoping to plan my next trip the first week of December 2011.

That's good to know. Hubby wants to stay at POP again, which we all loved, but I am struggling to decide.....He has a good argument that we are only there to sleep, but what resorts are recommended especially during the holidays? Historically, are there any specials deals during this time? That would probably be the deciding factor on value vs. mod.

The Christmas decorations start going up the first week of November and the Mickey's Very Merry Christmas parties start around November 12. The week after Thanksgiving used to be very slow, but over the last few years I guess the secret has gotten out. Of course, it's still better than summer and holiday crowds, but I would not consider that week low anymore - maybe more medium to medium-high. Also, that timeframe is usually during the Pop Warner competitions and that brings in the crowds too. The December resort discounts should come out in late summer. We have stayed at all levels of resorts, but we usually stay at a value resort. We are rarely in the room and really only sleep and shower there, so it works out well.

We have been at the first week of December. That is an awesome time to go because the crowds are very light. As you get closer to Christmas it will start to get more crowded.

We've been the first week of August and the third week of August and the third week was much less crowded.

In 07 we did Disney EARLY December. We drive, left the Sat. after Thanksgiving, first day at parks was Sunday. It was nice and slow at that time, the whole week was great, it only got busy on the weekend. '09 we went the second week of Dec (everyone always said the second week is best). We were there the 5th - 12th. It was awful in comparison. It was so busy, just walking around was a pain. Yes I do know it's certainly nothing like an official "high" time. We were lucky that we have little ones so we didn't have a need to wait hours for major rides. We met several people that overlapped into our time, they had been there that previous week, and they said it had gotten so busy. So I recommend sticking with RIGHT after Thanksgiving crowds... arrive to be at a park the Sunday after thanksgiving at the earliest, and spend that next week there.
