Christmas card question

My firstborn son is now 6 hours away at college, so when I do my Christmas cards, do I still sign his name or not? I know this is a very weird question, but I really don't know what to do. I always send cards with a picture of our kids on vacation, but he won't be in the picture this year (not going with us), but he's still our son who is kind of on his own, but not TOTALLY on his own yet..:scratchin What would you do?:upsidedow

When I started living on my own, I started sending my own Christmas cards. I don't think there is a right or wrong answer though. If you feel comfortable including him, feel free to do so.

I still sign from all of us even though both kids are either off at school or just starting working out of province. Whenever both kids are home I get a family shot to include in the card, and always include a note explaining what the kids are up to.

I would. Technically, he is still part of your household and I'm sure that your address is his main address, right? That's where he goes on school breaks and stuff? I think once he's not your dependent and/or your is address is not his permanent address, you can still add him to the card.

I have the same situation. I am a single mom. My daughter lives 200+ miles away at university BUT......we are still family and send cards. We just work it so that we take a picture together and sign the cards together (did it one year in September cause that was the only timing that worked!)

Just ask your kiddo what they feel about it! Perhaps he (since he is all grown up now!!!) wants to send his own cards from his location!

Silly, but my first thought was that if he isn't in the picture and not mentioned in the signature, many people might think he's been excommunicated! :confused3 I'd add him unless he wants to do his own cards (is that weird for a college aged boy?)

I always include my college kids on the cards. They haven't moved out, they're just attending school. They still come "home" on holidays and in the summer.

I was thinking the same thing. People would wonder what the rift was. Since he is still in college and presunably goes to your home for breaks, I would include him. I am pretty sure my inlaws included all four of their kids on cards while they were off in college (my parents never sent cards).

I always do...they are my children no matter what age!

Once they get married then I will quit writing their names! They'd be hurt if I didn't include them, thinking we'd banished them from the family after they moved out or something!;)

Thanks everyone! I will include him-even if he's not in the picture. It wouldn't feel right to omit his name. :)
