Christmas Booked Lots of questions.

Hi folks this is my first post although I have been reading post's on here for the last couple of weeks.

Anyway we have taken the plunge and booked for the whole family Mother-in-law included at Christmas,22nd DEC- 29Th DEC.
Now then being a large party of 6 adults and 4 children there is going to be lots I need to plan.
We are going to buy Dream Passports, are we better to wait until we get there or can we buy them online? I have found a website in French where you can buy online but is this for the French only?
We would also like to plan meals for Christmas eve, Christmas day and Boxing day. I think the others day shouldn't need to be booked I think we should be able to play it by ear.
Can we book the Tinkerbell show before we go and is it worth the expense.
anymore hints, tips or general advice will be gratefully appreciated.

Hi Wbillyeald and welcome to the DIS!

IMO you may as well wait until you get there to buy your APs, you will still have to visit the Passport Bureau to have your APs made up so you won't really save any time by arranging temporary ones in advance.

Regarding playing your meals by ear...........the parks will get busier and busier as New Year's Eve approaches, if you're planning on eating counter service or at the restaurants that can't be booked in advance then I'd advise trying to eat at "irregular" mealtimes to beat the crowds. If you are planning on eating at table service restaurants that can be booked, I'd advise booking them soon after you arrive at DLRP.

We went to the Tinkerbell show back in 2005. Although it was very expensive I thought it was a fabulous show and a wonderful Christmas treat. Have a look at my trip report here.

Hi Wbillyeald - Im so excited for you. There is nowhere on earth as magical as DLRP at Christmas

Before finding this wonderful site and its many fabulous posters (OK guys I know its a bit slushy but its true ) we did Christmas without planning meals and found it impossible to get into the restaurants we would have liked to. My 1 recommendation would be to pre-book any restaurant meals in advance.

We too did the Tinkerbell show for Christmas Day Lunch in 2005 (same as Elaine) and thoroughly enjoyed it. It made our day really special although it was very expensive (If i remember correctly it was over £100 per ticket ) but was a one-off treat for our first Chrissy trip.

You may want to read some of the excellent restaurant reviews to give you an idea of what venues and meal types your party would like to do. One Character Meal is essential (we plan to book the Lucky Nugget for Christmas Day Lunch this year) but you have a few options for these CM's.

Other than that I have to warn you its gets exceptionally cold so plan your clothing well. Again there have been some very helpful threads on keeping warn during the winter. If I can find them I will add them for you.

Is there a way of booking meal pre arriving in Disney or will it be OK once we are there. Also did you book the Tinkerbell show before getting there.
We do plan to have the Dream passports due to the fact we will revisit next year and it should also help with the discounts. Is it easy to obtain the Passports when we arrive, My Sister in Law wants to be armed with them before we go so not leaving anything to chance, but i am quite happy to wait if there isn't going to be any problems.

Reading others Christmas reviews Lucky Nugget sounds very good for Christmas day.

I booked the Tinkerbell show beforehand, it was held in a huge conference room so not sure whether it was fully booked up. Guess they could keep adding more tables. If you do decide to go, make sure you get there an hour beforehand as tables are allocated on a first come first seated basis.

My DLRP brochure hasn't arrived so I don't know this year's prices but when we went the show was more expensive on some days than others, hence why we went on 22nd.

I definitely rate Lucky Nugget for Christmas Day. Some of the restaurants do charge more over Christmas, but this tends to be on Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve rather than Christmas Day and it's still possible to get meals at usual prices at most of the restaurants.

All this talk of Disney at Christmas is making me quite envious!!!
