(please be kind, I've never written a pre-trip and it's been several years since I wrote a trip report)

OK, that said, here we go...

Christmas 2011....long story short
Sister, nasty divorce, her out-laws
Sister ends up at my house on Christmas Eve practically manic over all of this, cried in my bed until 3:00am, got mad at me for falling asleep, went to sleep on DS's floor. :headache::headache::headache:
Christmas Day...she leaves, DH, DS and I decide to avoid the casual family gathering and spend the day together. We ended up at TGI Fridays for dinner :sad2::sad2::sad2:
During dinner we laugh and say 'next year we should just go on a Disney Cruise for Christmas and avoid this mess'

Fast forward a few weeks and DH asks 'do we have enough points for a trip?'
Not enough points for a cruise, but we could do several nights in a studio. :woohoo:

Fast forward a bit more and relatives near Sarasota, Florida find out we are going to be in FL for Christmas and invite us to celebrate with them. This leads to an invitation to spend 2 nights at their house.

So now here we are, 34 days from a Christmas trip. Plans are finalized and it's a little too early to start packing. DH is getting tired of me talking about all the plans, so I came here to share my plans and excitement.

Friday, 12/21....drop off dog, pick up rental car, pick DS up early from school (so perfect that his last period is study hall). Hit the road

Saturday, 12/22....if things go as planned, arrive at Animal Kingdom Lodge by noon or so. Hope the early check-in pixie dust is on our side. If we can get in the room, drop off bags, freshen up and head to Epcot. If we can't get in the room, we'll just have to freshen up at the pool. Candlelight Processional dinner package - Tutto Italia, CP, and Illuminations.

Sunday, 12/23...Magic Kingdom, Trail's End @7:15 and Sleigh Ride at 9:30.

Monday, 12/24...check out of AKL, Hollywood Studios until 12 or 1, head to my aunts'

Wedensday, 12/26...leave my aunts', check in to Beach Club, Hollywood Studios, Sci-Fi and Osborne Lights

Thursday, 12/27...Animal Kingdom - Wild By Design tour, dinner at Tusker House. Maybe more Epcot

Friday, 12/28...more Magic Kingdom, lunch at Liberty Tree and then???

Saturday, 12/29...check out, breakfast at Cape May and then hit the road for home.

Somewhere in there we will spend time exploring resort Christmas decorations. Probably on the Magic Kingdom day/days

Well, that's it. I'm pretty happy with the plan. Even more so since I just made some of these reservations last week. I had a different plan, but then decided we wanted to check out Fort Wilderness. Could have knocked me over with a feather when I was able to get the sleigh ride a month before the trip

just realized I didn't 'intoduce' us...

Me, Bethany, 40 something, former CM at DVC in Chicago
DH, Lou, 50
DS, Sam, 14....major Disneyphile. Knows more about Disney History than a lot of CM's I know (myself included)

We honeymooned at WDW in 1988 when all there was was MK, Epcot and the Market Place. Stayed at the Buena Vista Palace

Since then we have been in 2002, 2004, 2006, 2008 (bought DVC & cruised), 2009 (Disneyland), 2010, 2011 (Disneyland and WDW), 2012 (this will be trip 2)

We have stayed at All Star Music, Port Orleans Riverside, Beach Club, Saratoga Springs, Disneyland Hotel, Boardwalk, Grand Californian, Old Key West, and the Treehouses. Old Key West is our favorite, so far

Sounds like fun, DW and I are going after we visit my family for Christmas, we check in to AKL on the 28th.

Ha... I Know I posted some advice on Disney Freaks site for you and am now embarressed to see how often you have visited Disney and you probably know way more than I do!! lol
I look forward to hearing more about your xmas trip!! :goodvibes

Debbie
