My husband and I are planning our first trip to Hilton Head at Christmas time. We will be there the week of Christmas. Since we've never been there, we were wondering if anyone has any suggestions for Christmas day dinner? We understand that there isn't a restaurant at the hotel and we will need to make reservations in advance. Has anyone any recommendations for a great restaurant for dinner on Christmas day?

Also, are there any special activities going on at that time in the area? Last Christmas we were at the WL and had a great time, but the parks were close and there was always something to do and see. Any information will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Wonder 7568,

Welcome to the DVC (Dis) Board! Although I haven't been there at Christmas (Doc may be a good source of info on this), we HAVE been there for Easter. The resort had an Easter dinner package you could order from them and they delivered it to your villa. It was very good. I would imagine they would do that for Christmas too (call the resort directly, maybe they can help).

It is a beautiful resort and you will enjoy it very much!

I have some dear friends who go to HH every year for Christmas week. They love it, even though it's cold their kids still manage to swim. They'll be there this year too. I will ask them for reccommendations and let you know tomorrow.

We were at HH this year for Xmas and had a great time. The resort was pretty quiet up to the 22nd then got filled to capacity ( although the resort didn't feel that busy as the pool rarely have more than a dozen people).
Activities we did were a dolphin cruise, horseriding and a nature walk around Pinkney Island ( all were good fun) We went for a walk along the beach on Xmas day which was nice ( if a little breezy LOL). Father xmas turned up at some stage and there were carol singing and other Xmas based activities offered.
In general it wasn't needed to prebook restaurants ( we called on the day mostly or just walked in) but we cooked Xmas lunch ourselves in the unit and I would expect you would certainly have to book for that day if you chose to eat out. Best meal by A MILE was Chef Gordon's "Private affair" the food was outstanding.

Thank you all for your replys. We are certainly looking forward to going to Hilton Head and we will be sure to check out the dinning experience at Private Affair. This will be yet another Christmas away, we were at the Wilderness Lodge last year and we are planning for the Western cruise for next Christmas.

We'll report when we get back and let everyone know what a great time we've had. We've never had a bad experience with any of our stays with DVC.

Are there activities there at HH during the first week of January (after Christmas) for kids? Is it a fun place then? Or would kids be bored at that time?
Thanks
DJ

We stayed 6 nights at HHI last Jan and loved it. A CM told us that there were about 25 people at the resort the week we were there. There were activities planned, and we participated in several each day. I found it to be a wonderful relaxing vacation. I would go back in Jan in a heart beat. Our kids are still little 3-4 and were entertained by videos, pool, hot tub, play-doh, toys games and general running around, they even splashed in the ocean on a warmer day. We rented bikes and basically never left the resort. Weather was variable 50s-80s. Next trip maybe we'll do some sight seeing.;) We bought enough points to spend a week every summer. I want our kids to experience some more relaxing vacations where family activities (not rides/attractions)are the entertainment. Plus, since there is no decent DVC pass discount, I'm opposed to buying WDW $$$$$ annual passes every year. HH can be a very inexpensive vacation.
