We have been to Disney many different times of the year; however, never at the Christmas season. I am wondering if anyone had reservations about not staying at home for the holidays but went anyway and didn't regret it. I know it is very crowded but I think we would be going more for the atmosphere then riding every ride since this isn't our first time.

We've never been during christmas, but did go the week before christmas and loved it! I've decided that Christmas time is my favorite time to go to WDW. The decorations just make it more magical. And the weather is usually wonderful. Crowds really started to pick up the Saturday before Christmas...may have seemed worse since we were used to almost NO crowds the week before. I would go during Christmas week....I LOVE WDW at Christmas and once DH becomes a teacher that would be my only chance to go there during the holidays.

I think it would be the best. I have been there, early December, the past five years, hope this makes six. Weather is super, crowds are low, value prices are in and ALL the magic of the season, decorations and events/attractions, seasonal to that time, are there. It is great.

I love spending Christmas at WDW! We avoid MK while there.....it's always been the most crowded during that time. We enjoy all the decorations at the resorts and special entertainment that's there only for the holiday season. We especially love EPCOT that time of year......hence, my username! :teeth: I don't think anyone could be disappointed.

been many, many times for Christmas and New Years. In fact, this coming Christmas will be our first at home in many years.

It is spectacular and the magic of Christmas is everywhere. The Resorts are at their most beautiful, the restaurants serving wonderful treats.

But....the crowds are miserable from about the 22nd onwards....and you can hardly move in any of the parks on Christmas day so would likely prefer to make other plans around the world for that day at least.

I think early to mid-December or after January 2nd would be the best time of all to visit.JMO....:)

Poohbear, Great minds think alike!:D We are headed down the day after Christmas (me, DS and DM) for the same reasons you state...wanting to see the decorations. Since we go on a pretty regular basis it is no big deal if we don't get to ride all the rides. (Although I do hope to ride Splash Mountain at least once!:D ) I think it will be so neat to celebrate New Year's at Epcot!!!

We went over Christmas for the first time last year. I will admit it felt a little funny to me, not doing all our traditional holiday stuff at home and not being with my family over the holidays. But it was very cool and we had a great time. I wouldnt do it every year, but I wouldnt not do it again either.
Id say go for it! :D

I agree with the others. It is a spectacular place to experience the holidays. You would definitely want to make the most of EMH and FastPass. Don't forget to have some PS so you are not left out at mealtime.:earsboy:

My first trip was during Christmas break. It was really beautiful. I can't wait to take DH and DD there during the holidays some day. :)

I would definitely go during Christmas. :)

We go every year at Christmas. We felt we needed a change to experience more Christmas magic, and that was it! It is perfect for us. We are a family of four adults, one of which now lives in Florida. We make PSs for most of the days since it is so busy, and we take some time to enjoy the shows and the pools and stuff like that. The decorations are awesome. The Christmas shows are great. I would definitely recommend doing the Candlelight Processional package. It seems spendy, but it is worth it. We always do it for Christmas day, and have had Gary Sinise as our Celebrity Narrator every year I can remember. It is a beautiful show that always brings tears to my eyes. New Year's fireworks at Epcot are also great. I cry for them, too. Maybe I just cry a lot?! But it is such a beautiful time there. Call us silly, but we don't even decorate at home for hte holidays anymore! We save our money for the special times we have in Florida.

If you decide to go this Christmas, let me know! I'll be down there December 20th - January 11th (doing the half marathon this year, so I get an extra-long vacation!).

Good luck deciding what to do!
(Hope you get convinced to do the right thing!)

We went the week between Christmas and New Year's and had a GREAT time!! It's my favorite time of the year to go. :)

I went one time at christmas time and i was about 11 or 12 and to me it just wasnt christmas,at least it didnt feel like it to me,but now that im older,id like to go back at christmas.

I agree with everyone! We usually go the first week of December and the decorations are beautiful!! :)

I"ve never been at Christmas, but this year we are going at the beginning of December.. this way, we can take advantage of seeing all the decorations, yet have lower crowds. Then, of course, enjoy a nice quiet Christmas Day at home.
