Christine's Get Healthy Journal (Definitely Want Comments!)

Christine,

Thanks for stopping by my journal. That recipe sounds yummy! I love black bean soup and this sounds great. And it actually doesn't contain anything on my no-no list which has been a really difficult thing for me to find lately.

A suggestion for dinners since you're crunched for time in the evenings with kid's activities is that you might want to get out the old crock pot. I've seen lots of great low-fat, low-cal recipes using them lately and then you could have more time to get those workouts in. I'm sure it'd feel nice to come home and get a quick workout in knowing that dinner is making itself.

Day 26 of my "better eating" and I am officially down 9 lbs. So, I started at 154 on January 2nd and am at 145 on January 28th. The weight loss in the last two weeks has been much slower, but that's a good thing, I think. As long as it is still moving down. One more pound and I will be at my happy goal, but 5 more pounds would put me where I really want to be (at 140). When I started this, I just didn't think it would be possible so I wasn't really shooting for that, but it now looks a little more possible.

It is casual Friday here at work today and I put on a denim skirt that I hadn't worn in months. I almost didn't wear it because it was so big in the waist. I'm sure I look frumpy. And my black boots zipped up nice and easy today--no stuffing the calves in and squeezing. Just 2 weeks ago, that wasn't happening! So I'm pretty happy today.

Thank goodness the weekend is here. It's cold so I will probably spend the time cooking up batches of good, low-fat soup and doing my new Crunch Pilates tape!

Christine! Hi! I'm Jen!!

I just wanted to day welcome!

Your recipe sounds awesome! I think I have to try it!

Just a quick Monday check-in.

My weight was stable over the weekend. It actually looked like it was going dip down a bit, but since I didn't get to exercise on Sat/Sun I think it just stayed. Plus it is almost the "TOM" and I'm sure I'll pick up some pounds. My eyelids were already a bit puffy this morning.

On Friday night I tried my new Crunch Pilates tape. This one has hand weights that are used with the moves. OMG!!! After 30 minutes, I had to stop. This tape was too much for me and I almost got sick. I don't think I will ever master that tape. So, I spent the rest of the weekend sore and tired. Uuuugggh.

Did okay with my food though. I guess I had my first "non-diet" food last night. I had a pork tenderloin in the freezer that I needed to use. I decided to throw it in the crockpot with some homemade bbq sauce. And what's a barbeque sandwich without cole slaw on top? And then the bun?? So, I only ate ONE!!! But I brought one for lunch today. I kind of feel guilty but I'm trying not to beat myself up about it. It's just so hard when you've been very stringent for almost a month. I guess I'm getting too obsessive. But one slip and I'm down that slippery slope before I know it.

I made my WW black bean soup this weekend (recipe poster earlier in the thread). What a debacle. I didn't know it on Saturday, but we had a small snowstorm coming. I didn't realize it until I got to the grocery store. Man, what a nightmare. In my rush to get out, I picked up "black soy beans" rather than plain, old black beans. Didn't realize this until I was into the soup making. Fortunately, I had some dried beans around. Even after soaking and cooking the beans though, they still seem a little firm. So, I'm kind of bummed. Haven't eaten yet but I hope they soften up.

Felt like a spent a million bucks at the grocery store this weekend. I had to go to three different stores to get all the things I wanted. I feel like now that I'm eating better, I'm spending a fortune. I'm trying to buy organic when I can and better quality stuff. I'm noticing it at the register. I've always heard that when you cut the junk food you will slash your bill. Not true in my case. There was a woman in front of me who had a cart full of mac & cheese, chips, boxed EVERYTHING, candy, you name it. Her bill $79.99. I had lots of fresh veggies, OJ, milk, yogurt, Laura's ground beef, some WW's ice cream--my bill was $105!!! And that was just at one store.

Oh well, enough rambling. I'm starting the week at 145 lbs. Let's see how it is during my TOM!!!

Happy Monday Morning!!! Here I sit back at work feeling tired and blahhhhh....

Got my period on Sunday (finally). My weight was up a pound this morning. Feeling guilty about that. I was so busy on Friday evening and most of the day Saturday that I did not get to exercise. The temps were beautiful here this weekend so I could have gone outside. Was determined to get my exercise in on Sunday, but I got my period and had fairly bad cramps. I swear, the older I get, the worse I feel with darned TOM thing.

Still feeling pretty drab today and am bummed about not exercising and picking up a pound. I can only hope it's water retention but I have a sinking feeling it's not. The only GOOD news is that I still stayed on track this weekend with eating.

So, I guess tomorrow, I have to get back on the exercise wagon and try to keeping working at it.

Went shopping at Kohl's this weekend for some new work clothes. I've only lost 9 lbs (and didn't have much to lose to begin with) but everything has gotten severely baggy.

Found a great pair of black pants in a size 8. They were a tiny bit too big. Couldn't find a 6 in the black but got a 6 in the tan color. It is so great to put on sleek clothes and not have the "bulges." I will say though, that the "change" in clothing sizes irks me. For years, I have been a SOLID size 10--even at a lower weight. I've noticed that my sizes are getting smaller even if I put on weight. I mean a 5'7" woman who is 145 lbs is NOT a traditional size 6. Sorry, but no way. I hate how they are trying to "trick" us. Anyway, they're not fooling me!!

I hope everyone reading this has a great week and I hope I can check in with some pounds lost by the end of the week.

Hope you are able to have a nice, not drab day!!! We all need to get rid of these mid winter blues! Have a great one! :sunny:
