TORONTO -- Members of Christian Peacemaker Teams says they're delighted with to hear three members of their group are free after being held captive for about four months.

In a statement released this morning, the group says they are rejoicing in the release of Canadians James Loney and Harmeet Sooden and Briton Norman Kember.

They say they have endured four difficult months of uncertainty, hope, fear, grief and now joy during the four months since the hostages were abducted in Baghdad.

The trio were snatched off the streets of Baghdad in November along with American colleague Tom Fox.

Fox was found murdered earlier this month.

Earlier today, British Foreign Secretary Jack Straw said Loney and Sooden required hospital treatment, but he didn't give any other details.

Kember is described as being in "reasonable" condition in Baghdad.

Straw says the hostages were released through a multi-national operation, but he gave few details of the operation saying it followed "weeks and weeks" of planning.

I am happy that they have reached freedom but I think it is more appropriate to say that they were rescued. By soldiers toting guns and bullets which they don't like

It is an answer to prayer that they are now free. May the memory and witness of Tom Fox live on.

It's not only answer to prayer but the result of the actions of the coalition forces which the peace group neglected to mention in their press release.

Is this anything like the story arc that was on "The Unit" this past Tuesday?

Seemed to me, that at least in "The Unit" story, only one guy had the right attitude. If they decide it's a good idea to go into hostile territory they take the risk alone.

Now that certainly makes sense however, there were soldiers who took a big risk to rescue them and they should get credit for what the risk that they took to bring these peacemakers to safety.

Agreed. In fact they deserve even more than just credit.

A huge thank you would be nice!!

THANK YOU!!!

It took until 9pm EST for CPT to issue a new release that included thanks to the troops who carried out the rescue operation. I listened to several CPT supporters interviewed on the radio today -- they all seemed rather naive -- one of them only expressed hope that the hostage takers were all okay when asked their opinion on the military operation that rescued the CPT members.
