choosing an inexpensive camera

Hello,

I know this has been asked over and over but I cant find it. I am looking for a cheap ($150-$200) or cheaper. One small enough i can through in my pocket and not have to carry a bag or anything like that.

Thanks
Steve

I would personally stay away from Kodak, Samsung and HP.

Nikon and Canon Cameras are nice once you get out of the $120 range. I like Sony cameras as well, but I would suggest finding a Sony Camera that takes SD cards instead of their proprietary Memory Sticks which tend to be more expensive.

I am wanting to get a new camera for everyday use and our upcoming trip I currently have a nikon coolpix and hate it I had a pentax til I dropped it and the screen broke. I am wanting to shoot pics at Disney my daugthers judo matches and just everyday stuff
thanks

The one I have been eyes, but can't justify to my hubby of the need for a new point and shoot camera (I have a SLR, and our old p&s died on us) is the Canon PowerShot SX120-IS Black, it's a 10MP with a 10X Optical zoom, it's right on the $200 edge, but well worth the price. It's more compact then most cameras I've been with those specs & are great for kid shots (we used one for the Santa pix @ walmart last xmas).

I also agree with the tip about Sony cameras, make sure it will take an SD card (though most sold today will take either type of card). Best of luck finding a camera you'll love! :lovestruc

I just bought a GE X5. It takes 14mp pictures and has a 15x zoom and was only $130ish on Amazon. It is a full size P&S camera (not compact) and so far I like it. All the reviews I read said that it works like a $300 camera.

Hi I was sent over here from another board. They tell me you're the experts, so I'm asking for your help. I'm getting a digital camera for DH whose birthday falls just days before our Orlando trip. (2 weeks) Can you recommend any good cameras in the $100-200+ price range. With all the sales this weekend I might get lucky and find something that's normally more expensive.

Digital camera, small, easy to use with one hand, if possible. Good picture quality and speed. Preferably waterproof and shockproof - if I can get a good one in my price range.

He likes a set up where you can use the same finger to take the picture and adjust the zoom. The thumb zoom controls are a little awkward for him, and it makes it harder to get a steady fast shot.

He takes a lot of outdoor shots now, but that's possibly because his current camera doesn't take good indoor shots.

I noticed a lot of Canon Power Shots in the paper today. Are they good?

Thanks so much for your help!
