I've always ended up booking hotels within walking distance but this time around I'm going with a friend who has parking with the AP. I'm wondering if we can get a better rate not booking at the closest hotels.

Can someone suggest a few decent hotels outside of the walking radius?

I'd like to keep it under $65/night so I'm also looking at Priceline/Hotwire. Free parking would be a plus.
Breakfast and all that is not important to me.

Thanks for any ideas you might have!

We've gotten the Hyatt and the Hilton on Priceline for around $50 but they charge a lot for parking ($15 i think?) so with taxes and everything it's closer to $70-$80.

We've also stayed at the Super 8 on Katella which, to us, is still within walking distance but I know not everyone would want to walk from there. It's about as far as I would want to walk but definitely walkable. My MIL payed so I'm not sure of the exact price but i think it was around $60. They have free parking and a free (small) breakfast. Not really my favorite place but it's okay and decent if you just need a place to sleep.

Good luck making a decision!

I second the Stuper8 and it was okay. Definitely not a romantic weekend but fine for my friends and me. The walk is just a little farther than walking the distance across either park and you can stop at the IHOP (or any of several other diners) for a cheap(er) breakfast.

I'd just do a priceline for a high star rating. You may be close or not, it's hard to say. but it wil get a hotel that is nice and take the car out of the picture wether you need it or not.

We stayed on the other side of 5 a few times, when we had APs and had free parking. There was a Days Inn we stayed at that was fine and a Ramada that was fine. Neither was as great as the HoJo at the Ent Rate but they were both fine and about $50 a night.

Thanks for the advice. I'm still looking, because I am really hoping to get a place that's better than 'okay'!

I think I'll do what skiingfast suggested and just Priceline with a high star rating. Most of the places, from what I have seen, do end up charging a resort/parking fee. I probably can't avoid that.

Thank you,
T
