Chomps Around the World! A December Dining Review!!

So we ended our day at AK a little after 6pm with park closing, how cool is AK in the dark???? It was just so very relaxing and romantic :) We decided to get some dinner back at CR since we were tired and felt like making an easy night of it. We were pondering doing The Wave but then Silas was kind of nodding off, so we decided to just get some dinner down at Contempo Cafe again and bring it up to the room for Wishes!

I ordered the Steakhouse Salad - marinated beef, mixed greens shaved red onions, goat cheese, and vine-ripe tomatoes with mustard dressing

MMMMMMMMMMMMMMM

This was SO good....The steak was the same as the steak that was on the flatbread I ordered earlier in the trip and was nice and tender. There was plenty of Goat Cheese which added a nice creamy-sweetness to the salad that accented the tangy dressing well.

Derek ordered his beloved....Multigrain Turkey BLT - cheddar, bacon, and vine-ripe tomatoes on multigrain bread with lime-cilantro aioli

He loved it again...but this time he got the chilled sesame green beans instead of fries. I had a few of these and they were surprisingly delicious. I think I would definitely get these instead of fries next trip...well at least once :lmao:

We also shared a Fruit Cup and a Dulce De Leche Cupcake (this one made it to the room safe and sound!)

Do you see the height of that frosting???? just wait for the next pic....

Do you see that ooey gooey middle???? It was creamy drippy dreamy caramel....mmmmmmmmmmmmmm There was soft yellow cake and a wonderful light coffee flavored frosting. It was really good, but actually not as good as the Black Forest one if you can believe that! But I love cherries and that one was chocolate with Cherries in the middle.....

We enjoyed our meals while we watched Wishes and then ate the cupcake inside, since it was freezing!

Up next....DH's picks for his B-Day meals :thumbsup2

So Derek has been asking for so many trips to go to The Brown Derby...so it's been kind of a running joke whenever I would ask him where he felt like eating (even here at home) he would say "Brown Derby". UGH needless to say it got a little annoying  So since this was his B-day trip I promised him we would finally go there. We decided to do lunch since he really wanted Cali Grill for his B-day Dinner. We had a 12:00pm ADR and arrived there around 11:45am. We did have to wait until our ADR time though, even though the restaurant was about half full by that point.

Our server was very nice, although I don't remember his name, and got our drink orders right away (Diet Cokes x2!). Derek and I both wanted to try the Cobb Salad and he said we could get that as our entree (we actually saw lots of people doing that) even though it is on the appetizer menu. We both ordered one and then he brought some warm rolls and butter with Sea Salt.

They were really good...nice and crusty rolls with smooth creamy salty butter Yum!

Our salads actually came pretty quickly. I think we waited around 7 minutes!

Here's one before the Server Tossed it together

And after....

So....I guess I would love to say it was amazing...but both of us were kind of underwhelmed. The lettuce was chopped so fine it just kind of mushed together with all the toppings. The toppings were actually just as prevalent in the salad than the lettuce. It was also extremely cold. That makes me think they are all assembled ahead of time and them the dressing poured on top just before service. I totally understand their need to do so, but it was so cold at times it made my teeth hurt!

Neither of us actually said that we didn't particularly care for it until we ran our of rolls to eat it with LOL I think Derek didn't want to say anything since hed been nagging me for so long :rolleyes1 But once we ran out of rolls we both stopped eating and then we just kind of looked at each other and said, "well did you like it?" and we both kind of :confused3

Oh well at least we tried it and Derek has since stopped nagging me :yay:

I also knew I really wanted dessert here so I'm glad I was able to save room!

I ordered the

Banana White Chocolate Toffee Tower - on Cocoa-Almond Cookie and Bananas "Foster"

mmmmmm heaven on a plate! I love bananas (except banana candy ewwww)
and so this was just awesome. Perfectly creamy mousse and the crisp cookie was really good for dipping in the mousse :thumbsup2

Yum Yum Yum the caramel was really good too

Derek got a little Birthday Chocolate Mousse

He really like it, but he is a choco-holic! He would actually push you down for the last piece of fudge or the last oreo cookie.

It was also nice that our server mentioned the free dessert when Derek was looking at the dessert menu. I thought that was very nice so we tipped him extra for that!

Ok guys next up, a yummy dinner at Cali Grill...will we order the same things yet again??? or be adventurous????
