Choked on my coffee when I saw SW prices...

I was waiting for the flights to open up today for February vacation and couldn't believe that the price for my son to fly out of Albany, NY was over $2,100 for 4 passengers! Manchester, NH for me wasn't as bad, but not great for sure. We changed the dates of our vacation to January MLK birthday week and lowered the price by 1/2 the cost. The only drawback is the kids will miss 4 days of school. Kindergarten and 2nd grade. At least SW is still competitive for non school vacation flights.

We go President's week every year. It is always painful to pay those rates but DW is a school nurse so we are stuck! I got our SWA at 6 am this morn. Price went from 400 per to 600 in 8 hours!

Flight prices did skyrocket fast. Our school vacation is the week after Presidents' Day, and as mom and I both work in a school, we have no choice but to travel then. We lucked out though and after 45 minutes of obsessively refreshing the southwest booking page, were able to book flights for $310 roundtrip per person. Less than we paid last year, and this year, we don't have to fly through Boston at all! But I checked 2 hours later, and the same combination of flights was up by $80 per person. Today it's up even higher. Amazing what demand can do to prices.

If I am recalling correctly, some President's Week flights would already not be available from PVD to MCO on the day that they were released. All flights still have wanna get away fares still available. Granted they are at ridiculous prices, but the flights are still available. I wonder if less people are booking this year.

Why has JetBlue not released their airfares for Feb Vacation yet? I hope they are not going to be as high as SW
