Choice between GC Standard and PP Concierge

Hi all,
I would love some help with this decision. Background info:

1. We have stayed at all 3 resorts: Disneyland Hotel (many times--but never again until construction is over), Grand Californian (3 times), and Paradise Pier (1 time, long ago).

So you would think I could make this decision easily, but it is like Sophie's choice to me for some reason.

I did the math, and it will cost approximately the same (with the GC being a bit higher) to stay in:

Paradise Pier Hotel---upper theme park view--concierge

---or----

Grand California Hotel--standard view room

We have never stayed concierge before, but are planning it for our October trip at the Paradise Pier. This is a girls only trip with me and my 2 girls. Husband wants whole family to go in early December as well, so that we can enjoy as a family of five and see the Christmas decorations.

As a family of 5, we have found the GC to be really tight. And then there is the dreaded sleeping bag on the floor option--heaven forbid at those prices. But of course it has a nice lobby, and is beautifully decorated at Christmas time.

PP is bigger, and we would have the benefit of the concierge food for our family of five--plus a great theme park view. I worried the walk would be a bit much, but now that I know about the shortcut through the GC--we would use that. We would still see the lobby of GC, since we would be cutting through it to get to DTD and the parks.

What are your thoughts? Much appreciated!

You will get many responses each with a different reason for their choice. I can only say what I would do (and have done) which is go for the concierge view room at the Paradise Pier. I will take the space at PP over the grandness of CG (but my, it is grand, isn't it???) but I hate to be crowded. We also really appreciate, and take advantage of, concierge service.

If I were going with my girlfriends, I might choose the GC (probably would), but with my family, it's PP Concierge every time!

Until construction is done at DLH. i might think about staying there once that is over!

It took the Dobies 4 minutes to walk from the lobby of PPH to the lobby of GCH. On the other hand, the balconies of the GCH are nice...PPH doesn't have balconies. On the other hand, you will save beaucoup money and time with breakfast in the concierge lounge. On the other hand, the pool at the GCH is a gazillion times better than the one at PPH.

So, the question is...do you value more space and free breakfast over great pool and balcony????

Either way, you will be staying in a lovely hotel....you can't really go wrong!!!!!

What a nice dilemma to have, right?

How old are your girls? We are staying at the GCH but that's only because DD is 1 and takes naps. She's ornery when she's tired too...For us, the pool and balcony is not a dealbreaker and if the kids were older (like 7 and up) I would go for saving some money and a bigger room - but that's just me!

Like the previous poster said, either way you will be staying in a lovely hotel!
