Chocolate pie help needed!

My sister in law mentioned that her kids LOVE chocolate cream pie. I would love to make on instead of buying one.

When we were kids my Mom's idea of chocolate cream pie was chocolate pudding in a pie shell with whipped cream on top. I know that this is perfectly good, but I would like to try to make a fluffier pie.

Does anyone have an EASY recipe for one?

My mom used to mix the pie filling with whip cream but I don't remember the amounts. Good luck

Add some Cool Whip to it. Make sure to reduce the milk a little bit. If you want to add a little extra, add some Philly cream cheese.

I did a practice test last night. I reduced the milk by 1/2 cup ( for one package of pudding) and when it was cooled added some cool whip. It didn't really set up so it could be cut with a knife. It made great chocolate mousse however!

I'll just keep trying.....

This is the recipe I use: Chocolate cream pie
INGREDIENTS:
1 (9 inch) pie crust, baked
3 egg yolks, beaten
1 1/2 cups white sugar
3 tablespoons cornstarch
1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
3 cups milk
1 tablespoon butter
1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1 cup frozen whipped topping, thawed


DIRECTIONS:
In a large mixing bowl, cream together egg yolks and sugar. Mix in cornstarch, cocoa powder, and salt. Add milk and stir gently.
Pour mixture into a large saucepan and cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until boiling. Remove from heat. Stir in butter or margarine and vanilla extract. Cool slightly, then pour mixture into pastry shell. Chill before serving. Garnish with whipped topping.
