We are looking at booking this and just wonder when they say liquor? What kind of liquor? Is it fun, worth the money? Chocolate any good, because honestly I'm going for the chocolate? Ha ha ha, any reviews would be great!!!!

I arranged this on my cruise in Nov '13 on the Fantasy. I will never do it again because I don't drink and there just wasn't enough chocolate for me. However, I don't regret doing it because it was nice to try something. Here is what Disney told me when I asked info about it:

Here is the information that I gathered from the Disney Fantasy beverage & wine managers.

Chocolate tasting- Valrhona Chocolate

Sommelier will talk briefly about the history of chocolate and the type of chocolate we use

Talk about each drink with the pairings and then the tasting

Guests can ask questions between each pairing

1) Taittinger Rose- Paired with melted caramel chocolate and a dash of melted white chocolate

2) Lasseter Ammaroux- Paired with whole pieces dark chocolate, caramel chocolate and white chocolate

3) Port- Paired with Parmesan cheese

4) Glenmorangie- Paired with melted bitter chocolate

Do you just eat the melted chocolate out of a spoon? Or are you given something like fruit in which to dip it? Seems kind of bizarre to eat spoonfuls of melted chocolate...

For the melted Chocolate they give you a piece of hardened rolled chocolate to scoop it with. I have a picture but I can't figure out how to get it into here.

Did this June'14 Eastern and truly enjoyed it. The chocolate was either small bits or melted but you got to experience different ( white, caramel, dark) with different Liquors and I enjoyed being in the lounge setting and having fun. Loved the 10 yr old Port!!

Same as our experience, when we cruised on the Fantasy the last week of May. But for me it was the Champagne & chocolate that hit the spot. :drinking:

That sounds amazing and different from the usual wine etc tastings. Definitely going to book that on our cruise.

Is it still recommended to go to guest services on the first day to book that sort of thing?

That's what we did, we booked as soon as we got on the ship. Enjoy your tasting

I also enjoyed this tasting experience, as it was different from some of the others. It was nice because the people in my group all ended up with different preferences, my favorite was the whiskey.

If you're a chocolate lover, and your Fantasy cruise includes a stop at Nassau, I would absolutely recommend the Greycliff chocolate factory tour.

Not with DCL but I liked the Graycliff tour.

DW is not a liquor drinker. Are their chocolate tastings that are paired with wine only?

I am not a drinker. But, as I remember the last one burned badly but that was probably my ulcer. One of them I LOVED. I think it was a Champagne type.

I am told that Glenmorangie is a Single Malt Scotch Whisky.

If you really want to do this I would get into the Facebook group for your cruise and volunteer to organize it. Figure out which day to do it. Then get people to sign up. You need around 25 people to say they are interested. Then you contact DCL. This does mean they are committed. The interested people must send you cabin numbers. DCL will want them and will charge them even if they don't show up.

I did this tasting and the wine tasting in March. ( I always do the wine tasting :)
There was wine, port wine, champagne, and scotch, and two more that I don't remember. It had some melted chocolate, solid chocolate, cheese. It is about bringing our the flavor in the drink. I am not a champagne drinker but loved the Pink Champagne. I thought it was a great experience.
