Chinese vs Japanese cuisine. Which reigns supreme? Americanized versions included.

Enjoy both, prefer Chinese.
Cook many Chinese dishes have never made a Japanese dish and do in some way view their cooking on higher level technically.

I’ve only had the Americanized versions of both as I’ve never traveled to China or Japan, but I definitely prefer Japanese food. I like anything with Udon noodles and sushi. I also like the hand pulled noodles as well. Thai and Vietnamese rank up there on my list as well.

Having traveled to both countries for authentic I like Japan better. Homemade ramen is amazing! So is conveyor belt sushi. In China, peking duck or dumplings.

But here in America, I'd take Chinese any day. We have alot of the fast food style Chinese restaurants, have it be Panda Express or a hole in the wall local joint. We don't really have anything Japanese around us. We have a hibachi grill, and while yes it's Japanese, I never came across a hibachi grill in all the various areas and times I've traveled to Japan. We do not have Pepper Lunch or CoCo Ichibanya anywhere near us, but there are some in the States and that is pretty good for fast food Japanese (and they have in Japan).

I can humbly say that I DID have ramen on Japanese soil. Yes it was just a layover at an airport restaurant, but it still counts.
