DH got a thing from a Chinese guy a few years back. It's in a wood/glass case. Judging by the looks of the thing and the guy who gave it to him, it is probably expensive.

I kept it because it is interesting and cute and because it is kind of a joke around here...we don't know what it is.

The Thank You was hard to write. I wrote "Thank you for the lovely gift..." and went on from there.

It looks like a cross between a dog and a bunny and is kind of cartoony looking...but cute.

But after a few years, it is bugging me. I did an internet search for "Chinese dog bunny", but couldn't find it.

Anyone know what it is??????

If I knew how, I'd be happy to to supply a pic. But I can't - I don't know how.

My internet skills are not the best. It's a wonder that I figured out how to use the DIS and that's the truth.

It's a Chinese dog bunny. If you were familiar with this...thing...and heard the term "Chinese dog bunny", you'd probably say, "I know what she's talking about."

Maybe posting this was a bad idea. :headache:

And the dog looks so happy to be wearing them! ;)

Does it look like anything like a Chinese Cat?

No. It's a Dog Bunny.

I think we have to resign ourselves to never knowing what the hell the thing is...other than a cute Dog Bunny. We've been calling it a Chinese Dog Bunny this long. Guess we can keep it up. :thumbsup2

Thanks for trying, guys!

could you email me a picture? Just got back from china, and Im sure I could help you out as my daughter is in China. I will pm my email

Just remember, The Mogwai must be kept away from bright light, never made wet and never, ever be fed after midnight.

You were close, actually, it's known as a Chinese Bunny Dog and Ashley's photo was very close also except instead of white with brown patches, it's brown with white patches.;)

My computer skills aren't all that great either, so I don't know how to post the photo or the link but if you google Chinese rabbit sculpture, choose the first item that comes up (I'm assuming it will be the first for you too) it's called "Antique Chinese Rabbit Art Pottery Sculpture c. 1820". Click on that, it's an ebay item & looks sort of like a dog bunny to me.

Cool-Beans, I know precisely what you're talking about, and the only way to describe it is dog bunny. Can you take a digital picture and send it to one of us to load on the thread? It really needs a picture. The image from the google search above is the right idea, but not quite what I've seen before.

Do you think it could be a chinese zodiac figure? Representing the year of the dog, or the year of the rabbit...?
