Nihow everyone!

So who is booked on the China adventure and considering flying from Hong Kong back to Shanghai so they can spend time at the Shanghai Disneyland?

Me! Me! Me!

I called my vacationista and she said they don't currently have any plans for a Shanghai park visit. We do have a half day free in Shanghai, but beside the park, I want to see Suzhou, and Hangzhou, so Trevor and I are planning to get a multiple-entry visa for China and fly back after Hong Kong, then fly home from Shanghai after our October 9th tour.

We are flying from Hong Kong to Shanghai hoping that the park will be open (we are going in June) -- if not I'm sure we will keep ourselves busy. We will also be getting a re-entry Visa.

I have already booked our tickets on Cathay Pacific! Hope they give us a firm opening date soon.

We are also doing China in 2016, but with Thomson Family Adventures. Our trip ends in Shanghai, and we are spending two extra nights in Shanghai so we can do Shanghai Disney. So excited!

I'll be interested to hear how this works for you, as China is currently top of my list for 2017.

I'd say, I'm looking forward to your report on this as a possible option, but Thomson doesn't allow singles, so it's not an alternative for me. :(

Well, that's a bummer. The two itineraries are very similar, and we came close to going with ABD, so I don't think you can go wrong if you are "stuck" with ABD. We just really wanted a smaller group experience. Right now, we are still the only family booked on our departure, so we might be getting a private tour of China. I am not so secretly hoping for this :)

OMG, that would be amazing! I am exceedingly jealous! Small group is much better. I was bummed when I went to Thomson's website, and it talked about being exclusively for families, and there is no mention of single supplements anywhere. I suppose I should call & make sure, but their website makes it pretty clear.

We are doing Machu Picchu for 2016 and are thinking about China for 2018. If we do then we will plan on hitting at least a couple of the parks while over there. We can't wait to hear what others have to say about it.

We just did Peru this year. It was wonderful. The hotels are great, and we really like Cusco. If you get Rudy Chaco as one of your guides, you'll be in great hands. He is awesome with the kids and really has a great attention to details that help make the trip go smoothly.

So excited to hear what you guys come up with Kevin! I already sent an email so you can pass along the info once you have it. China is on my must do list and since I'm likely to do it solo this trip may be the best way to do it!! Thanks for posting that you're working on this.

How close is the new park to Shanghai? I'm wondering how easy it would be to divert from the standard ABD itinerary and visit the park. I'm not sure how comfortable I would be wandering around China on my own since I can't speak or read the language.

At the most recent D23 Expo I asked the imagineers where it was. They said it's very close to Pudong International Airport - one train stop away. I would say that puts it 30-45 min from the Bund where the ABD hotel is. Not bad. You just have to be confident enough to take the train out there. I'm sure the concierge at the hotel would help you.

ABD doesn't spend a lot of time in Shanghai. I think the itinerary is very good otherwise, but for Shanghai and Hong Kong you want more time. You're only in Shanghai for 1 full day. So, going to Shanghai DL will mean sacrificing valuable time in Shanghai. On the other hand, of all the activities on the China ABD, those I would least miss if they were removed would be during the full day in Shanghai - Fuxing Park, the Gardens, and the Acrobatic Show. So, it's not the end of the world if you missed them. The most important thing to do in Shanghai IMO (other than DL) is walking out on the Bund both during the day and especially at night. Looking across the river to Pudong is absolutely incredible and not to be missed.

This is great information! Thanks!! Admittedly, I know very little about China and need to do some reseach.
