Children flying to Disney

Hi all,

Myself and my daughter leave on the 25th for Disney (YAY!). She is ten and I have her passport and notarized letter from other parent giving me permission to travel with her.
I am wondering if she will need any other form of ID when coming through customs/security at the airports?
Specifically - Will she need her long form birth certificate showing both parents names?

Usually it's just the passport/letter that is required, but the agent may "talk" with your daughter. Simple questions like "who are you travelling with?", "where are you going?", stuff that like. It's to see if the child is aware of what is happening or if they've been coached...

I've taken my boys across the border 3 times since my divorce with just a passport and the letter. US agents have never asked for anything other than passports, but it's better to be prepared for the one that does. Enjoy your trip!!!

We just got back We took my son and my husband's son we had notorized letters and a bunch of court paper's with us just in case plus both boys passports. We where never asked for anything other than the passports. The border gaurds just asked both boys there names that was it no problems at all.

When my son and I went accross last December, I had his passport and letter of permission and the custom agent gave me a real hard time about not having custody papers. I don't even have custody papers...the family court in Nova Scotia tells us not to bother if there is no dispute between the parents of who gets custody. I had to do some fast talking for her to let me to go through. I'm leaving again in 8 days and I'm real nervous about going through as still don't have any custody papers...just the letter of permission and his passport (plus his government ID, health card, & birth certificate). Not really sure what the custody papers were needed for because non-custodial parents can take children out of the country if they have permission from the other parent(s).

Maybe she was having a bad day and decided to give me a hard time for nothing. For this reason, I'm going through customs in my hometown (Halifax) instead of Toronto like last year.

I took my nephew last year (okay, in March, but I'm a teacher, and it always feels like a new year in September! ) and had a letter from both parents (they were never married and my sister is remarried) plus my sister's custody papers, plus her marriage certificate. I just handed it over when I gave them the passports. The Canadian customs agent had a harder time with it and asked us more questions. I found it odd that it was harder to take him BACK to his mother than to take him away from her!
